Looks like Capello thinks Terry has been 'punished' enough and has reinstated him as England captain. To me this just turns me off England even more.

Ridiculous & weak decision by Capello. Led no doubt by the London media. Thought it was interesting that the "Ferdinand may choose to retire from international football due to injury concerns" story was leaked this week; the fact he refused to meet the manager at Old Trafford in the week tells it's own story.

Hopefully a few more (including Mr Gerrard) will follow suit and that a fair few Eng-er-lund fans boo their own captain.

I couldn't care less any more. Why anyone would want to have that sack of sh*t as their captain, I just don't know.

Capello has no clue what a captain needs to be. Clearly.

His management of the England squad at the world cup was terrible, the run up to the tournament and his demanding a new contract combined with the FA's capitulation was farcical. The FA have painted themselves into a corner, should have sacked him or accepted his threatened resignation.

It was more of this news management first way of strategic thinking that has infected so much in the last two decades and likely more, 'how will this one play out?'. So concerned were the FA not to have any stories about the manager's future during the tourno or shock horror that they could even win or do well and have him leave like Robson did or Venebles did that they took a ridiculous course. It ignored the fact the last World Cup was a natural watershed for a large number of players, and a new load of players would have to be brought through. Who was best to do that? This guy who is (maybe not) phoning it in, still trying to massage a tune out of the golden generation? Farce

I felt compelled to enter this thread, in the way that people enter cricket or Formula 1 threads to point out that they think it is boring, just to say that I don't f***ing care who they pick as captain and that anyone bemoaning the adulterous, grasping, drunken thug that is John Terry being reinstated as England captain should at least be celebrating that it is being taken from the drug test dodging, amateur porn film making, wannabe ganagsta that is Rio Ferdinand.

The only time I'll really be interested in a thread entitled 'John Terry' is when its subheading is 'RIP'

Couldn't care less about England, but don't get Capello at all. You look at some of the jobs he's done, and the circumstances he succeeded in. And now, on perhaps his final job, on a massive pay check and nothing to prove, he looks like one of the weakest managers ever in charge of a team.

I'd have thought he'd have walked into that set-up and sorted it all out. Told the big names players to **** off if they don't like it and instill some discipline. Instead he seems to create his own disasters.

Terry should have been told to **** off the second he tried to act the big I am in a press conference in the middle of the World Cup.

I agree with Leo

Capello's probably doing his best to get the FA/Media to sack him so he can escape from the circus with his pay off intact.

I think this is 100% right. Bringing Terry back as skipper will only bring bad feeling within the squad.

Good work agent fabio...

I'm an England fan but that is a great post.

The rumour of Capello to Chelsea in July is building. Kinda makes the ingratiation to Terry more understandable and yet makes me hate football just a little bit more.

Still, if it ain't gonna be Kenny then I'd happily accept Ancellotti.
