No game at the weekend so should be our strongest available side. Defence will probably be the one that finished yesterday, and it should be the same midfield, just a case of who plays in the two attacking roles.

to be honest , think your right , poulsen has the experience yes , but on basicly every times he has been called on he has been found wanting , although spearing , hasnt got great experience he has shown decent abilities when called on so far .

I think i'd be looking toi give Carroll a start myself. A while till the next game and an away goal is well worth it.

Watched them last night. They weren't as good as the result suggests. Benfica had a player sent off in the first half and it pretty much changed the game in Braga's favour.

 

Still, they're a class above the teams we've played so far in this competition.Like a lot of Portuguese teams they're good at home, but if we can come away with a draw at worst i'm confident we can completely dick them at Anfield.

Kenny said he's easing him back and Carroll will realise after that 15mins yesterday he's got a way to go yet. Cant see him suddenly starting days later, second leg more realistic I'd have thought. Then again Kenny isnt always honest with the press.

He didn't look quite ready to me on Sunday. He's only been in full training for a week. 15 minutes when you're 3-0 up is a big difference to starting in the UEFA Cup against good opposition. Give him 30 minutes this time and then start him at Anfield.
