Was ages ago, when it was all kicking off. He was very supportive of them publically and dismissive of the fans' opposition. Probably scared of losing the cushy number he's got there.

Cant access that at the mo, can someone summarise it? Cheers

Nothing earth shattering, starts off complaining that a man (Ferguson) cant have an opinion these days and the refs and FA are a mafia you cant criticise. General rambling on to Rooney being fortunate he whacked a Scot who didn't roll around, to then getting uppity on exactly where Rooney whacked McCarthy (head not face!), and how the lad provoked it by getting under the skin of the United players, but that was another game with another ref.

Blew up when it was suggested Ferguson grow up and not indulge in selective honesty, 'What does that even mean, collective honesty?! Are you trying to bamboozle the people listening, what does that even mean?!' 'If you want to talk about people being inconsistent, lets talk about Nick Clegg!'

Also rambled wildly about big clubs(ie Man Utd) being targets for the press and them starting campaigns that cause the powers that be to give them unfair treatment on and off the pitch.

When you get to that page, don't go to "listen live" it's the "listen now" you want down a bit and on the left.

Harry Redknapp was saying similar. How he's every right to give his opinion on a referee and it's just the same as him saying if he thought a player was any good or not.

Couldn't make it up.

I'm not so sure managers shouldn't be allowed to make comments on refs, bar chaos may break out.

My problem is that in the space of 2 games Ferguson has shown himself to be an obnoxious hypocrite. So if he wants freedom of speech on the refs, they should be able to say that about him.

Crerand's outburst on 5 Live with Colin Murray is just incredulous.

Thanks, sounds like a crazy man.

My problem with it is that it's so clearly cynical and all done to pressure officials and deflect attention. What was that line he said to Dermot Gallagher at a meeting regarding his outbursts 'Don't worry about that, it's just part of the game'

Managers should be allowed to criticise referees but they shouldn't be allowed to say they are bent, unfit, bias, prejudice etcetc

Its one thing criticising a ref, but Ferguson clearly implies they are biased and unfair against his team. He implies they are cheats.

And 'Arry's comparison to him saying a player is good or bad is utter rubbish. As usual from him.

in post-match interviews managers should be allowed to criticise referees' decisions, not their personal traits. but they're only allowed if each time they also mention a mistake one of their players made in the same match to balance it up.

Listening to the World soccer thing last night on R5, and Tim Vickery was right about the media encouraging managers and players to hide behind refs as it's maybe an easier line to follow for interview and creating headlines. He says, rightly and obviously, that the line of enquiry should be 'What was your strategy for the match, and how did you perform in trying to implement it?'

Crerand was on Radio City yesterday getting interviewed as part of the footy show they have on from midday.. i didnt catch it all so didn't know who they were talking to when i first put the radio on but he said about Liverpool "Dalglish should have got the job in the summer" then went on how he remembers his Celtic debut etc before stating we were s*** against West Ham "but what do you really expect with the squad he's got there? He was left an absolute mess by that fella before him.. not Roy.. the other fella.. Benitez.. all you heard out of him was complaints about money and the fans, well, the fans having a go at the Americans.. well, those two boys did nothing but pour money into that club and what thanks did they get?".. the panel (Bitter Snodin and Barney Kennedy plus the presenter) were just agreeing with "hmm" (as in "hmm you've got a point there") in the background.. i nearly crashed the fkin car! i started texting to say "why the f*** arent any of you bringing this clown to task" but the Mrs started having a go at me for texting while driving.. ..i stopped the text and left the message on screen to send when we stopped but by the time we had they hadnt said the text number and i'd learned who the clown was so thought 'f*** it'..

i should have text'd shouldn't i? In fact, i should have waited, got their number and phoned them.. "those two boys" those two boys who nearly run the club into Administration?! c***!
