Difficult to judge as he was playing out of position but defensively he looked OK I though, at least I don't remember any mistakes. What did stand out for me was his aerial ability think he won almost every ball he went for..

To me he looks a good player not playing in his proper position - think he has loads of potential as a centre half here as he reads the game well and is very assured on the ball. Agree he is an ideal apprentice for Agger, and he'll get chances to step in for him.

 

Positionally at left back, he just didn't really know when to get forward etc. which you can't blame him for. He played it safe which is fair enough all things considered.

There was an interview on the Offal when he first moved here from Rangers. It was with someone who had coached him (I think) in Scotland. The question was asked, whether he could play other positions, like left back. The answer was an unequivocal no. He is a central defender.

Think he did play at LB for Rangers on a few occasions but yeah it's obvious he should only be played there as a stopgap.

I cant, I have tried, You can only do one change a year, I done mine last June.

He seems a bit prone to hitting it long Skrtel style. Needs to keep calm and look for shorter options if we don't want to give the ball away. Our players up front are normally without a chance of winning a long ball in an aerial battle.

I think that was a deliberate tactic rather then an indication of panic or a tendency to hit it long, He was constantly looking for cole beyond their right back

Serious question but what are you basing this on as when I´ve seen him so far in a red shirt he´s neither of those and today he never won a header and seems to hoof the ball rather being able to play it out from the back like Agger? Granted he played LB today but even so the qualtiies you mention should still hold.
