Gerrard, put in a bigger effort in the stands than those on the pitch.

 

really didn't see a problem with the effort of the players, it was mostly lack of quality

not one of them hid, it was the quality that lacked but the workrate that won them the game.

Exactly. Quality is the key word. Kelly and Meireles were the only 2 that showed anything like quality (I'm not including Agger, Lucas and Soto as their main job isn't to provide the type of quality we lack). The rest were fine with regard to effort, but lack quality.
