How many days do you base someone's salary on? The full 365 calendar year or 260 'working' days?

 

I have someone finishing on 4 March, so they're working (and getting paid) for 4 days in March. It makes quite a bit of difference on this basis...

 

for example - they're earning 100k (they're not)

 

4/365 x 100k = 1,095.89

4/260 x 100k = 1,538.46

 

However - say they were finishing on 21 March -

 

21/365 x 100k = 5,735.43

15/260 x 100k = 5,769.23

 

(15 being the working days).

 

Is there any protocol on this?
