Siang Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Now that Spurs lost to Blackpool, with 11 games to go...there's a fair bet that the 4th place could go all the way until the last game of the season

Personally I'm hoping this groin thing isn't going to be a running problem. With Stevie fit and at his best and fingers crossed Carroll comes in and picks up where he left off with scoring, then those factors and Suarez makes me believe we can do it. Trouble is we can't afford any slip ups and that means starting with a victory at West Ham.
AE Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I still think it is just too much for us. We need to make up more than 6 points and that really means no mistakes. Possible yes, but still a long shot
Cheesecake Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 win our own games, forget Spurs and Chelsea cos they will drop plenty of points, its up to us to get the wins to catch up. Win our games and we've got a chance.... dont look at the table until 6 weeks time and see where we are (impossible I know!)
Rimbeux Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Man City? I think you'd get better odds on them coming 5th than us coming 4th
CaptainXabi Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I think 66 points will do it. We just need to focus on winning every match.
Hassony Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 we will win all our games apart from WBA away

Flasher Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I still think there is loads to happen this season. I still don't think Man Utd will win the league for example. That said, I think Chelsea will get stronger and win a top 4 spot, and I can't see us overtaking any of the other top 3.

Leo No.8 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Wish f*cking Murphy had still been on the pitch last Monday night - we'd be a point closer to Chelsea than we are. Still think we can do it, but we need to be nearly perfect - and that means nearly injury free as well so we need a bit of luck.
Cobs Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 we'll finish 4th, Chelsea 5th and then Torres will score the winner in the CL Final against Barca to demote us to next season's Europa League :livid: have that Mocker Gods!
CarraLegend Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Its not gonna happen, Spurs and Chelsea are f***ing dismal so will drop the required points but we'll drop some too and the games will run out. If we could field Reina, Kelly, Carra, Agger, Johnson/Aurelio, Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard, Dirk/Maxi, Suarez, Carroll in every single league game we might but thats not gonna happen either. And for the last 18 months every time people start talking about 4th we go and drop points to an appalling team in the next game so beware of sunday!

Just beyond us this season I'm afraid. On the positive side - six weeks ago we had real cause to worry about relegation,,,it's all relative, I'm very happy the way we're going under FSG and Kenny, it all starts next season.
Ethan Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 not enough games left to close the gap to 4th IMO f*** off Purslow

City and Spurs will both drop points against other teams. They might, they might not, we get to play both City and Spurs so we can reduce their tally by 3pts, if Chelsea also reduce both tallys by 3pts 11 games left 8 and 10pts behind respectively, we don't need to catch all 3. Chelsea beating both of them and us beating both of them make our chances of snatching 4th much better. We end up 2pts and 4pts behind Spurs and City with 9 games left. If they take points off each other we could end up 5pts behind 3 teams which is a worse situation in my view. I also think City and Spurs are more likely to drop daft points than Chelsea.
PhilM Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Chelsea will haemorrage points. They still have United home and away, City at home, and Spurs at home. Sadly, the potential last day decider is against Everton at Goodison, who I'm sure will play their little hearts out to do us a favour.

Chelsea are a good side who have been playing poorly I can't see that continuing till the end of the season
Conrad Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 We have virtually no chance of reaching 4th - we have to win most (virtually all) of our remaining games - including beating spurs and man city - 2 out of spurs, man city and chelsea have to drop a load of points I'd be tempted to lay a bet at about 50-1. Anything else is blind optimism
muleskinner Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 We will have to win away at Arsenal, that won't happen. West Ham away isn't going to be a pushover either.
