alias75 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Really enjoying watching this current group of young players. For the first time in a long time we look like we're going to produce not just 1 or 2 players for the first team squad but 4 or 5. Almost in every position there's potential to become a first team player. Still think this team lacks a finisher and in some of the games ive seen had we had one we could have scored 6 or 7 easily, but some of the football they play is excellent. Really looking forward to the game tonight!
Maldini Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 As crazy as it sounds, I'll be a bit disappointed if we only get 4 or 5 into the first team squad from this group, they're exceptional. Suso and Sterling are as close to certs as young players can be. Wisdom, Flanagan, Robinson, Silva and Coady all have an excellent chance and N'goo and Morgan could make it if they can improve a bit

Its probably easier for defenders to make it so Flanagan and Robinson look good things, also Wisdom, and as you say Suso and Sterling are as close to good things as you'll find at their age. I think the key difference now is not only do we have the talent in our youth teams but we have owners that will encourage their progression and a manager that will give them exposure to the first team squad.

I think you have to have a crop that good to produce just one or two for the first team.
richwilks Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I can't see Sterling and Suso not making it. Players like Ngoo you can see that as they move up the age groups their advantages disappear, Ngoo is big and quick but top defenders will cope with that, hopefully I'll be wrong though. Flannagan looks like he has the potential to keep moving forward and Robinson is the more exciting of the two so hopefully he can as well. Silva I'm not sure about, he looks to have the ability but nothing exceptional. They are certainly the best batch we've had in a while and they are playing football the right way as well.
Sion Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 If Suso doesn't make it here, its either because he's had a breakdown or he's made it somewhere else. From what i've seen of Kristjan Emilsson he looks impressive as well.
alias75 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Wisdom looks a good one too, because hes so good physically you do worry that as he progresses through the ages his advantage lessons, but hes not only physically strong but technically hes really good so i think he has a great chance. Id be very surprised if the 2 fullbacks aren't squad players in the next 2 years, and Suso and Sterling have already been given squad numbers so itc clear their going to get a chance. There are others like Coady that have great qualities but they play in a position that's traditionally tough to break through in, but i see no reason why he cannot get a chance with the first team squad and then its up to him how he progresses.
Eiler99 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 The team for tonight is: Belford, Flanagan, Sama, McGiveron, Robinson, Suso, Coady, Roddan, Sterling, Adorjan and Morgan
Falconhoof Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 haha, kenny on LFC.tv just said he thinks he's nutmegged most of these lads over the last couple of weeks.
Cunny Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Kenny in fine form on LFCTV.Reckons he's nutmegged most of the youth team in the past 18 months. He had to have Valentine's day with Marina yesterday as he couldn't get her a ticket for tonight.
alias75 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 2-0 gary coleman's younger brother again!!
Cunny Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 That Suso lad looks the real deal. this is as poor as I've seen him playtrying too much, getting caught in possession too often
richwilks Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 That Suso lad looks the real deal. Didn't think he looked that great tonight to be honest.
alias75 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 This is the least involved ive seen Suso too, would like to see him play more centrally. Another great finish from Sterling.
