Very candid and apologetic regarding the mistake with the rag. I really like Souness, he's a proper Liverpool legend and still clearly loves the club and city.

Forgive him years ago. Shame he's not remembered as the out and our great player he was, and for me our best ever captain.

I remember him as a player. Very much so.

not sure that is true

people of my generation (I am 41) hold him in the highest esteem as a player.....he is, imo, our second best player ever, and our best captain

erm no...

Dalglish our best ever player, Souness as our best ever captain....

Lol I thought I recalled you suggesting that Gerrard was a better player than Souness some time ago

I don't know how you couldn't hold him in the highest esteem, he made a horrible error of judgement and I would think there was no intent to cause offence.

Clearly still loves the club, and what a player he was. I have heard people compare him to Roy Keane, which frankly is laughable. Maybe they were comparing them as managers .

if you're suggesting I had a mare because I called Souness over Gerrard you're wrong :)

Not at all

I thought our exchange was the highlight of the thread ;)

As others have said, forgave him ages ago.

I know that some haven't and given the sensitivities involved that is their choice, certainly not going to lecture anyone on it.

I've no problem with him now and although I don't see loads of him as pundit as I never watch Sky, he's never struck me as being as bad - and certainly not as pro-Manc - as some make out. As I say though, could be wrong as don't see much of him.

Feels good to see people rehabilitating Souness. He was a poor manager and did a daft thing, but he's always supported the club, is an intelligent observer of the game and is a true all time great.

Even at the time, when he f*cked up over *that* interview I felt sorry for him. He'd just had a life saving operation, and I thought he could have been cut a bit more slack. It's not like his critical faculties would have been at their best post operatively. Someone should have stepped in and advised him.
