Elm0 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Anyone watching? Giving what seems a fairly candid account of his time as Liverpool manager.
D.Boon Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) Very candid and apologetic regarding the mistake with the rag. I really like Souness, he's a proper Liverpool legend and still clearly loves the club and city. Edited February 6, 2011 by D.Boon
Chili Palmer Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 the most honest interview by him I've seen or read on the subject. He knows he made a terrible terrible mistake.
Epic Swindle Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Forgive him years ago. Shame he's not remembered as the out and our great player he was, and for me our best ever captain.
Benzo-13 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Very open on it.Makes a difference seeing the words come out of his mouth rather than text on a page. You can see he's gutted about that episode totally.
aka Dus Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Forgive him years ago. Shame he's not remembered as the out and our great player he was, and for me our best ever captain. I remember him as a player. Very much so.

Flight Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 people of my generation (I am 41) hold him in the highest esteem as a player.....he is, imo, our second best player ever, and our best captain Spot on for me.
Swan Red Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 erm no... Dalglish our best ever player, Souness as our best ever captain.... Lol I thought I recalled you suggesting that Gerrard was a better player than Souness some time ago
Minder78 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I don't know how you couldn't hold him in the highest esteem, he made a horrible error of judgement and I would think there was no intent to cause offence. Clearly still loves the club, and what a player he was. I have heard people compare him to Roy Keane, which frankly is laughable. Maybe they were comparing them as managers .
Conrad Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Very candid and apologetic regarding the mistake with the rag. Dalglish our best ever player, Souness as our best ever captain.... Yep
Billy Dane Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Absolutely magnificent player and tremendous captain for the club. Best ever player for the club? Certainly the best ever midfield player I have had the privilege to watch.

Swan Red Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Someone's had a Feckin 'mare in that thread if you're suggesting I had a mare because I called Souness over Gerrard you're wrong

DanielS Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The affection, warmth and respect in his voice when he was talking about Paisley was really touching.
Ethan Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Is there anywhere I can see this interview online ?
kop205 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 As others have said, forgave him ages ago. I know that some haven't and given the sensitivities involved that is their choice, certainly not going to lecture anyone on it. I've no problem with him now and although I don't see loads of him as pundit as I never watch Sky, he's never struck me as being as bad - and certainly not as pro-Manc - as some make out. As I say though, could be wrong as don't see much of him.
David Hodgson Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Feels good to see people rehabilitating Souness. He was a poor manager and did a daft thing, but he's always supported the club, is an intelligent observer of the game and is a true all time great. Even at the time, when he f*cked up over *that* interview I felt sorry for him. He'd just had a life saving operation, and I thought he could have been cut a bit more slack. It's not like his critical faculties would have been at their best post operatively. Someone should have stepped in and advised him.
