Cyclone Yasi about to hit Queensland

"There are fears of destruction on a huge scale as it reaches the northeast coast of Queensland from around 10pm local time (12pm in the UK).

 

Because it coincides with high tide, there could be a storm surge of up to seven metres, sweeping a wall of water inland.

 

The massive weather system is 310 miles (500km) across, with the eye alone measuring 100km across. Gusts of almost 200mph (300kmh) are expected"

 

 

That's one hell of a lot of fury coming their way
