Ombudsam Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 It'll be the same team as v the mancs so the same as wolves with gerrard for poulsen. Why would it change? I reckoon we can wallop these. Haven't gone into a game feeling this for a while.
Cam Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I'm looking forward to this and Stoke - far more than the derby. Maybe 'cos they're night games. ReinaKelly Greek Agger AurelioGerrard Lucas MerielesMaxi Torres Pacheco
Sion Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Gerrard back for Poulsen and we should absolutely destroy these*They've won one in 11 away from home. Properly Hodgetastic that. *assuming we get one of the refs who are just poor, rather than corrupt
D.Boon Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 why drop kelly? Because in two of the last three games he has looked our best defender.
Red Kent Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Lee Probert is the ref. Two previous home games this season with him1-0 v WBA and 3-0 v WHU.
AE Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Lee Probert is the ref. Two previous home games this season with him1-0 v WBA and 3-0 v WHU.5 - 0 it is then
Red Yoda Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 why drop kelly? we have played of number of games with kelly at right back and johnson at left back , both have done extremely well ............. we are now playing fulham at home , a team we expect that kenny will def look at as......... ''one for the taking '' to aid in our attacking options the balance of having two full backs who can get forward and whip the ball in at times is a massive benefit , it keeps the opposition stretched wider across their back line , therefore creating more space in the centre for the other midfield and forward players to break into .................... as i said , johnson and kelly have done really well , but if we balance both full back spots then either kelly or johnson moves out or into a different position { johnson could go wide right in midfield , kuyt goes left side and maxi drops out } , i just imagine , that because johnson is the senior player between kelly and johnson and has been asked to play out of position recently he would get the nod and get this game in his naturally position ......
badtodabone Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 kelly has earned his place in the team he dosnt deserve to get dropped for johnson
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Left back needs to be sorted. If Aurelio is fit then Johnson shouldn't play there.
Rimbeux Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Left back needs to be sorted. If Aurelio is fit then Johnson shouldn't play there. If Aurellio can only play once a week, it doesn't help stability, not easy
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 If Aurellio can only play once a week, it doesn't help stability, not easy Its not easy but a call needs to be made cause he can't stay there.
Dan Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Its not easy but a call needs to be made cause he can't stay there. Who Johnson? Done fine the last two games, don't see the issue here.
Stevie H Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Who Johnson? Done fine the last two games, don't see the issue here.he's not comfortable on his left foot and it slows us down every time he gets the ball. it's a far from ideal solution.
yellow jumper Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 thought johnson did well against jarvis first half, was much more of a factor when he switched sides,
psl Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Isn't it great to be looking forward to games and talking about football and signings again?
Stevie H Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Isn't it great to be looking forward to games and talking about football and signings again?it's f***ing wonderful. hodgson genuinely does seem like a bad dream now.
Davvo Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 he's not comfortable on his left foot and it slows us down every time he gets the ball. it's a far from ideal solution. Going forward that's right. Oddly, he seems more accomplished defensively on that side though, perhaps because of that same hesitancy and added thought process. Tricky one, but for me, with it being Fulham at home, I'd be tempted to bring Aurelio in for Skrtel, and give Kelly a run at CB. He's played well, but definitely looks like a CB playing FB to me.
The_Adder Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Stevie back in for Poulsen and Cole or Pacheco in for either Maxi or Kuyt, whichever is the most knackered (pref Kuyt). Wouldnt change anything else...
Davvo Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Isn't it great to be looking forward to games and talking about football and signings again? Absolutely, and what a delight to be discussing which players don't deserve to be dropped, rather than those who we want to shoot.
Flight Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 and give Kelly a run at CB. He's played well, but definitely looks like a CB playing FB to me. I don't see that mate. He's been a revelation to me at RB. He looks like he could hold that spot down for LFC and England for the next decade. I'd go so far as to say playing CB would even be a waste of some of his strengths - he regularly gets around CBs running from oppo corner flag into their box. Still think a world class CB should be top of the shopping list and I hope we have targets identified for the summer as well as a top LB. Got to agree with psl - I'm buzzing already for Wednesday. Ah Kenny, how we've missed you.
D.Boon Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 No point changing a winning team at this point, let them play themselves into form and confidence* *Apart from Poulson who gets f***ed off for Gerrard.
CarraLegend Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 We'll go 7th if we win, not where we want to be obviously but looks a damn site better than being in a relegation scrap down the bottom somewhere!
