I heard this. Was told no decision had been made and they were just exploring the option.

I'd love to see what they could come up with.

Would hardly be a fait accompli would it. Rather very thorough exploring of both options?

you're right, i shouldn't have said anything.

Have done a massive volte-face on this since the Summer. I want to stay and keep some of the history. I think its important for us.

Hope the plans are amazing and the council gets behind it.

That would be awesome

Did they say where they were putting my statue?

Its going in the middle of the Diouf memorial gardens. It will be a neo-abstract representation of his brace against Southampton.

A fitting tribute, i'm sure you'll agree.

Would be great to stay at Anfield but with the amount of redevelopment needed to keep up with the Jones' it could just end up being like triggers council broom.

Does there not come a time when the amount of worked need is so vast you really have to start afresh?

They'd do that anyway wouldn't they?

I mean we always new they would explore the idea of redeveloping the current stadium.

Moores always said it wasn't possible (and I'm assuming he got professionals to advise, rather than giving it the once over himself) not sure if it was cost (which I guess could have changed); technical issues (which won't have) or political (the council being awkward) that was prohibitive.

probably a good idea then, i wouldn't take that c**** word for anything.

to be clear i'm led to believe these are surveyors drawing up the plans to redevelop the stands, not just seeing if it can be done.

If we can have a 20,000 seater Kop again then I'd be all in favour of staying at Anfield. Is that feasable? is it possible to re-route the road behind the Kop stand to allow that? Would be a very odd looking stadium if the Kop stays at 10,000 and the Centenary and Main Stands are built up in to the heavens...

I'm not sure it's just about seat numbers, like 15k more. It's about £1m plus a game which as I see it means expanding the high level and corporate numbers. The might mean expanding the capacity of the Anny and Kop whilst redeveloping the main and centenary to include a large number of high price areas, so maybe three tiers for three stands and a single tier kop?

I've thought this. The plans need to achieve a hell of a lot. They need to kick the club on financially and retain a cultural and architectural heritage. The first is vital and the second more difficult. How do you retain a historic architectural identity when you remove 50-75% of the stadium and what you save is less than 30 years old ?

The main thing though, is making us competitive on the pitch. If we can buy up the properties surrounding, demolish and massively expand on the current site at overall net gain to the balance sheet then we should do that.

None of us are involved in the cost/benefit comparison of the options. Ultimately we need to trust that the analysis is done to the highest standards and that fenway have the highest possible ambitions.

Spot on.

Start with the Main Stand and upgrade the corporate side and gradually move on to the others. No need to get ahead of ourselves if they're here for the long term. The surrounding area is a concern for me. If the council can attract big investment it will thrive but I think they'd rather wash their hands of it while the club is still the dominant force.

I agree about the pitch as well. It's tiny by modern standards.
