Hard isn't it. For what it's worth, I think you may be right putting Terry Mac infront of Xabi. He was one of my favourite players, and I think I'm still just a bit too starstuck with Xabi, with the passage of time I think Mac will rise back up above Alonso in my reckoning. Prefer Lawro to Sami though, for mobility and distribution as much as anything.

After Kenny, Terry Mac was my favourite player growing up. He scored some absolute screamers and as I remember it worked his b******s off for the team and created loads. He took no s*** either.

The other player I hated to leave out was Ray Kennedy. This is all dredged from my pre teen mind, I started following us in 78-9 I think age 6.

Sami just pips Lawrenson for me, for ariel dominance against the best of Europe for years on end. Had Lawrenson gone on longer without injury he'd have just shaded it. Lawro being a bit of a bell didn't help either.

We're similar era, I was a year earlier, 6 and a half when KMD walked through the door and that was it. Lawro's persona certainly puts a strain on judging his ability, I'll give you that. For me, Sami's lack of pace, which he covered very well with superb positioning and instinct, just loses him the spot to blow dry boy.Loved Terry Mac big style, my Dad used to spend what seemed like hours, teaching me his volleying technique on Friday nights after watching Kick Off smile.gif. That side on volley, always getting over the ball and not skying it into the stands. I still go spare when I see £80k per week players do that these days. The Bruges final was on ESPN classic a while back, TerryMac was awesome, all energy in the midfield, made a laughing stock of the 'game is quicker these days' comments.

I only remember Rush from his last or last two seasons so dosnt make it. Barnes was playing more in the middle as well, but I cant come up with anyone to fill the left wing, Kewell was great for 4 months and none else deserves it.

Lawrenson

Hughes

Gerrard

Souness

Barnes

You have this thing about Alec Lindsay, he was nowhere near good ennough for this team, he only got two caps for a start which speaks volumes. Kennedy and Nicol were different class mate, so was Gerry Byrne who were it not for Ray Wilson would have played in the world cup final.

Surprised at the number of people who, having seen both, are putting Babbel ahead of Nicol (both great players, but Nicol did it for us for longer and was a more complete footballer for me) and Torres ahead of Rush (again both great players bit no contest for me that one) - not to mention NYR including McMananan when his team has other players from as far back as the early 70s.

Clemence

Nicol Thompson Hansen Lawrenson

Lee Gerrard Souness Kennedy

Daglish Rush

(until a couple of years ago Molby would have got in ahead of Gerrard and it's always close between Kennedy and Barnes)

Impressive how many have Reina in as GK, but I'll still stick with Clemence

Being an old fart I have more players to choose from than many of you...a mixture of best and favourite really.

Nightmare leaving out God and Nando but Rushie was a machine.

Edit for Kenny.

Thats the one, but take Reina out and put Clemence in, and that is one fvckin scary team.

Some might argue Neal over Nicol, but the clowning about in the Anfield Rap video swayed it
