Snookie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I've noticed some people - Maldini etc - speaking very highly of the youth team. How much of that is down to Rodolfo Borrell? I know how important he's been to the development of many of the current group of Barca players. Is there a chance that he will make the step up a more senior management position at our club in the next while? I've always liked the idea of appointing from within. Managerial continuity is a great way of building a club identity, as we've seen before, but Sammy Lee doesn't seem to have the ability to take on a senior role. Thoughts?
magneto Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Its more about the style of play and the professionalism he's brought into the team. Of course having good youngsters makes a difference, and I don't for one minute think our entire Youth side will make it. (based on what I've been told and read)

Thoughts? He's only been here 18 months hasn't he? He needs to have some success at getting players ready for the 1st team before he can be considered to be doing a great job. If he proves he can do it, then give him a pay rise and get him to bring more players through.
g0atface Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Watched the youth team v crystal palace, theres at least 4 players there with massive potential, and the football was probably the best any liverpool teams played since we smashed real madrid at home.
Maldini Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I'd keep him where he is, it's the same as with Ian Ayre. If he's doing a great job in the area he's employed it might f*** up things by moving him? There's a big difference dealing with kids and dealing with adults as well. I hope we no longer have the attitude that youth coaching is of secondary importance. One of the reasons Spanish clubs are able to appoint from within is their coaches take great pride in coaching at youth level so they get a greater calibre of coach prepared to do it. He seems to love it over here so he might be around for a while.

U18's to 1st team is one hell of a step up, good player or not.
