Has there been a players career that has been surrounded by such shadiness and weirdness?

Now he wants to leave Man City. More skullduggery from that Kia bloke.

I'm afraid though Tevez is a great player and gives everything on the field, he is a shifty little bugger who loves to lie and feign outrage. A bit like Maradona actually.

Not a player to build a team around.

well, if his kids are in S America & he's not, I can understand that

According to City his agent just wants to get Tevez more money. Apparently a hefty pay increase can cure acute home sickness (it would work for me, to be honest!).

Agree with that. He's got plenty of previous.

Napoli and Argentina must really regret building their teams around maradonna

Maradona wasloyal to his teams, I'll give him that. And of course he was a genius on the field.

But he was, and is, a paranoid, lying, cheating little b*stard.

If he makes good on his idea to quit the game, something that has been trailed for months, then you couldn't blame him, it's only a job. More money does make a difference, and it seems this guy doesn't play for air and the love of the game, with the coming financial fair play the next 12 months will see a scramble for the last huge wage hikes and players getting up to all sorts as clubs simply wont be able to acquiesce after that.

Anyway - which Argentinian club will Tevez sign for next - Real Madrid or Barcelona?

Apparently if he signs for a team in a Spanish speaking country his ex wife will come over and live close to him but she refuses to move to England.

I think she is part Welsh.

A Brief History Of Carlos Tevez

The boy's got form...

Boca Juniors (2001-2004)

Tevez forces his way out of the club claiming that the press intrusion in Argentina is too much for him and his family and the club aren't doing enough to support him. Public bust-up with manager also ensues.

Claims he loves the club and supporters, and always will.

Time at club: Two-and-a-half seasons.

Corinthians (2005-2006)

Tevez forces his way out of the club, going on strike, after arguments - some physical - with teammates, the head coach and the club president.

Claims he loves the club and supporters, and always will.

Time at club: One season.

West Ham (2006-2007)

Tevez almost immediately falls out with the manager and players. Storms off and threatens to go on strike after being substituted. Goes AWOL to Argentina at one point.

Claims he loves the club and supporters, and always will.

Time at club: One season.

Manchester United (2007-2009)

Tevez complains of being fatigued and overplayed in his first season. In his second, he complains of being underplayed - drama queening it every time he's taken off - managing just five goals, despite playing more minutes than the league's third top scorer Fernando Torres. Parting shot of "I'll scream in Ferguson's face when I score against them".

Claims he loves the club and supporters, and always will.

Time at club: Two seasons.

Manchester City (2009-????)

Tevez is tired, homesick, wants to retire, takes time off to see his daughter and is caught on camera spending that time allegedly banging his mistress (the actually banging remains unphotographed), feels there's too much greed in football despite being the highest-paid player in Britain, hates football in general yet throws a wobbly every time he's taken off, wants his old life back, hates the club executives, claims that he would like to punch his young teammates and finally hands in a transfer request.

Claims he loves the club and supporters, and always will.

Time at club: One-and-a-half seasons so far, some of it begrudgingly.

and there you have it....

The idea of using his two daughters as the reason is poor form IMO - Tevez seems to be a c**t of the highest order. You can't blame his agent - Tevez could sack him?

A very good player on the pitch though.

I believe him on this one. It's been going on for months, even the quit thing came out weeks before this. Not many people would live on a different continent to their children given the choice, they'd do something about it, including changing jobs.

I don't. I think he is totally full of sh*t.

will you still say that if he takes a big pay cut and goes back to play in argentina to be with his daughters? i won't, i'll say fair play to him. would actually be an incredibly refreshing move in modern football.

if though he's using this as an excuse for a pay hike or a move to a more glamourous club in a warmer country then yes, he's just another greedy bellend. wait and see innit.

Agree 100%

If I am wrong, then good on him.

Even that depends. The one thing which isn't in doubt is that his missus won't move to England with the daughters. If she will move them to Madrid and come herself then doesn't that change things as well?

There's one thing I know - Argentina must be f***ing boss. They love it, the Argentinians.

he's spoken loads about wanting to be back in argentina and how much he misses the place though, so moving to madrid however hispanic it is would now make him look a knob regardless of whether his wife moved there with the kids.

riquelme's on a million $ a year back at boca. they can't afford more than that for tevez. so he'd be taking one almight pay cut. must be ace though as you say. better than them themed steakhouses in that london anyway.

Indeed. He's already their highest paid player, highest paid in the PL and supposedly Europe, so it's unlikely he'll be getting a rise elsewhere. Maybe he just doesn't want to live here anymore, be it for family, his own head or both. This has been going months, even last season, to the extent he club have been throwing or trying to throw loyalty payments at him.

City are going to have this issue continually. Being a salesman, Cooke will know deep down or not so deep down, that they're all there purely for the money, including himself, and any notion that they've been sold on the club and the vision is window dressing at best.
