growler Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 With a massive thread about waiting for nesv to act I blame our fans. How were we able to pull together to get out handg but can't muster a chant to getrid of Roy? Votes on forums are all good but it seems to like the fans at the games support Roy. Given we have athread where we identify nesv we should have the sme for the fans until those at the game do something. Chants for houllier on MondayBoo poorson and pfkChants against Roy when we are winning Bynot doing anything we are supporting Roy. Simple.

This is something the board should deal with on their own IMO. But it is frightening that they hav to wait for an ephiphany to see its not working. Its just hard to be excited about the match when you cant stand the guy thats supposed to lead us.
lfc003 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Majority of fan's are fickle. I imagine every poor performance and defeat will be accompanied with Dalglish chants while nothing will be said with every victory. It can't be a game to game basis, If the majority of fan's think Woy isn't good enough then they have gotta use their voice regardless of wether we win or lose. Edited December 4, 2010 by lfc003
Cheesecake Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I dont see something like Norwich fans throwing their season tickets at Brian Gunn happenning at Anfield to old Horny Goods Doubt he'd understand of they did anyway http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1205296/Norwich-1-Colchester-7-Furious-fans-Gunn-amid-Norwich-seven-goal-humiliation.html
eljay Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 The fans will eventually vote with their feet. It happened at the end under Houllier when we were getting thousands under capacity for some mid week games and it will happen to Hodgson. Maybe not quickly enough for some but he won't be here next season, I'm certain.
JonShar Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I wish people would stop kidding themselves that the fans got rid of G&H. The banks got rid of them, plain and simple.

growler Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 I wish people would stop kidding themselves that the fans got rid of G&H. The banks got rid of them, plain and simple. Sad to see comments like that. We put a lot of effort into the process. For some tobelieve that it meant nothing.... It's generally accepted that we played a part. Regardless of size of impact we did make one.

It's generally accepted that we played a part. Regardless of size of impact we did make one. The fans were brilliant Growler, really were fantastic. However, I agree with JonShar. The banks wanted their money back and a few factors made them decide that selling the club now was the best i.e. - Man City had massive investment making them a serious contender for that lucrative 4th spot, - Liverpool's investments in the team were showing a trend of net positive returns demonstrating that they were not keeping up with competition, - Prospects for refinancing were not good, With all them factors together, the banks needed a quick sale. If things went on further then the possibility of a new bidder making an offer to cover the debt was diminishing. I think the fans were fantastic but I do think the figures are all that the banks looked at.
lawrie Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I think the fans were fantastic but I do think the figures are all that the banks looked at.and ultimately it'll be what NESV look at - falling attendances will be the catalyst
Cheesecake Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 and ultimately it'll be what NESV look at - falling attendances will be the catalyst or NESV will steal more jokes than Denis Leary from Bill Hicks, do you trust them?
Hassony Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I have decided that I am not going to shave my beard until Hodgson is sacked
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I have decided that I am not going to shave my beard until Hodgson is sacked In that case, I hope he leaves by mutual consent
JonShar Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Sad to see comments like that. We put a lot of effort into the process. For some tobelieve that it meant nothing.... It's generally accepted that we played a part. Regardless of size of impact we did make one. The fans were fantastic at the end, as Rory said. But it was the same effect as at 4:30pm one day me walking into a store that closes at 5pm and demanding that they close. When they close at 5pm, was it because of me or was it because that's what time they close?
Gunga Din Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 The fans will eventually vote with their feet. Maybe not quickly enough for some but he won't be here next season, I'm certain. of course it will. plenty of our fans are fairweather w*****s. you see it on here. "I've lost interest" blah blah blah. we're now reduced to advertising tickets on Radio City, something we used to mock the s**** for
growler Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 If nothing else I think we made prospective refinance opportunities difficult. Thicks said as much too. Not to mention the issues of making sure the news owners are of a certain standard. In the same way, it's not just about results it's about the right man.

Not to mention the issues of making sure the news owners are of a certain standard. In the same way, it's not just about results it's about the right man. With all respect, I genuinely don't think the fans had anything to do with the things you mentioned. Hicks is a joke in the States financially after the Rangers collapsed, no-one wanted to touch him, and Gillett has been broke for ages. As far as the right owner goes, there wasn't much choice. NESV were a no-brainer for the board with their track record running the Red Sox.
David Hodgson Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 of course it will. plenty of our fans are fairweather w*****s. you see it on here. "I've lost interest" blah blah blah. we're now reduced to advertising tickets on Radio City, something we used to mock the s**** for Really ? Wow. F*ck me, this is melt down time then. Although, Having said that, 'll say again what I said a few months back, there are recessionary aspects to this. In the run in to the close of last season I got offered plenty of season tickets, and although you'd get the odd 'I dont want to go any more and watch this sh*t' reason given, more often than not people were citing money. Still, it never helps if dross is being served up on the pitch. It goes to show that filling 70,000 super stadiums can not be taken for granted, and certainly not without a team that's competing for the big honours.
Andy @ Allerton Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I wish people would stop kidding themselves that the fans got rid of G&H. The banks got rid of them, plain and simple. Disagreee. The fans were an element in the yanks getting binned off.
charlie clown Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I wish people would stop kidding themselves that the fans got rid of G&H. The banks got rid of them, plain and simple. That's probably 95% true but if the efforts of the fans didn't make any difference I'm sure Hicks wouldn't have been complaining about 'internet terrorist' campaigns..... If it was only about the boardroom and the banks then we would have seen or heard nothing but the eventual announcement that ownership was changing hands, as and when it eventually happened. That there was a huge amount of publicity and media profile being generated was largely down to the fans. I have no doubt that the high profile had no effect at all on the negotiations but I am equally sure that it put added pressure on G&H. It clearly panicked them. And that is what is making this current radio slience about RFH so frustrating.
JonShar Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 That's probably 95% true but if the efforts of the fans didn't make any difference I'm sure Hicks wouldn't have been complaining about 'internet terrorist' campaigns..... Possibly, but I think he was more likely to say that at a press conference than say something along the lines of "I'm such a credit risk that I couldn't find anyone to refinance me".
charlie clown Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Possibly, but I think he was more likely to say that at a press conference than say something along the lines of "I'm such a credit risk that I couldn't find anyone to refinance me". Well, that's true, sure, but it's not like they were the only two things he could have said...... "Tom, you've got to do an interview - when they ask you about the problems at the club you've got one choice: blame the internet terrorists or admit you're not creditworthy." "Er, instead, can't I mention.." "Tom that's enough, They are the only two possible explanations, Do not even THINK about mentioning other possible reasons." " Well what about the pressure from RBS, what about the boardroom rift, what about the global economy and the pressure on my domestic sports franchises in the U.S, what about....." "Tom! Enough. Either you drone on pathetically about internet terrorists or you tell em you've got no money. At all." "Internet terrorism it is then I guess".

Haha, you made a good point in your first paragraph, but the fake conversation was grand just the same!
