BG Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Kind of mental that a country with a population of 1.4m is building 10 or 12 stadia...some of them look pretty impressive that said
BG Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 stadia Oops. At least it's correct in the text if not the title.

Hieronymus Bosch Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Nowt wrong with "stadiums". Edited December 4, 2010 by mrshah
madaboutlfc Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Qatar will hold the best world cup in terms of in stadium fan experience.. Will be an awesome worldcup..
Rimbeux Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Qatar will hold the best world cup in terms of in stadium fan experience.. Will be an awesome worldcup.. Care to qualify that? Are you basically saying that once they've got there and got inside, they will have a more comfy seat and better loos than they'd get anywhere else?
madaboutlfc Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Care to qualify that? Are you basically saying that once they've got there and got inside, they will have a more comfy seat and better loos than they'd get anywhere else?yeah comfy seat, aircon, food, drinks etc all sorted.. a lot of people cannot seem to get their head around the fact that the country has a population of only 1.3million but as far as empty stadiums being concerned that wont happen..
anfield11 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Kind of mental that a country with a population of 1.4m is building 10 or 12 stadia...some of them look pretty impressive that said Getting away from the Doha Port stadium should be fun.
Rimbeux Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 yeah comfy seat, aircon, food, drinks etc all sorted.. a lot of people cannot seem to get their head around the fact that the country has a population of only 1.3million but as far as empty stadiums being concerned that wont happen.. I dont think that's the main issue. It aint about filling stadiums per se, at least from what I've gathered on top my own thoughts, they could quite easily give away tickets to the people along with the visiting workers and neighbouring countries. It's justifiable suspicion over how they got it despite the huge risks and downsides in terms of climate, the size of the country, having to build not only all the stadiums, but also huge amounts infrastructure, including a whole city. That's before you get onto the welfare of the players, how or even if the usual 400k fans can or will make the trip with so many negatives around climate, cost, accommodation and to be frank boredom or the obscene idea of building and dismantling so much at vast cost for one month of sport when there was absolutely no need to do so. I think there are corrupt unaccountable middle aged men, enriching themselves through the largess of similarly unaccountable heads of state who could do with the PR exposure, and all at the expense of the credibility (not just turned up nose at the stink, but if it will actually remain relevant) of the World Cup. It's b******s about new markets for FIFA or football, such as the CL and the PL have already got there, it's not even most profitable for the tournament, there were other bids that could bring in more official revenue. It's a last payday for this brigade before the nursing home, mortuary or law catches up with them.
Buzz Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) :Right, firstly Al-Wakrah looks like the secret unlocked level of a tiger woods psp game, secondly, air conditioned stadiums with out a roof, f***ing well in eco conscious world friendly fifa.. Edited December 5, 2010 by Buzz

Cam Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 All the games withing a 40-mile radius too. Should be interesting getting fans from 32 nations into that kind of space. I'm gonna invest my money in a 'Mr Baton'-making company.
Gravy Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Has antone thought about the fact that there is actually feck all to do in Qatar? It's like the mid west of America in the 19th century.
Flasher Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Heard a rumour that Qatar intend to move the world cup to either spring or autumn, smack in the middle of the European football season.
Bailo Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Heard a rumour that Qatar intend to move the world cup to either spring or autumn, smack in the middle of the European football season.Haha. Less chance of that happening than England getting 2018 now.
Hassony Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Haha. Less chance of that happening than England getting 2018 now. you think? beckenbauer already said that It should be moved to January, shouldn't be a proble to the germans as they take January off anyway it's in 12 years time, so plenty of time for FIFA to enforce this
Des Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 you think? beckenbauer already said that It should be moved to January, shouldn't be a proble to the germans as they take January off anyway it's in 12 years time, so plenty of time for FIFA to enforce this It's completely preposterous.
Murphman Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 the fan experience is more than having a comfy seat and great access to food and drink.its gonna be f***ing hot there, how about travel costs, etc. You won't be able to walk about 'outside cos it will be 50C, some f*cking fan experience that will be. THE most ridiculous thing I've ever seen, aside from what the hell has qatar done to merit the World Cup. It stinks to high heaven we seriously should look at a break away tournie.

He said it needed to be considered. You won't be able to walk about 'outside cos it will be 50C, some f*cking fan experience that will be. England v Australia v USA? Good luck.

Buzz Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Heard a rumour that Qatar intend to move the world cup to either spring or autumn, smack in the middle of the European football season. There's also one that Brazil won't be ready for their world cup and England could be the hosts if they are not.
Murphman Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Who is "we"? England v Australia v USA? Good luck. I know it's a difficult one, and borne out of frustration. But really, this has to stop, UEFA aren't far behind when it comes to the gravy train either, there's absolutely no accountability, surely the whole WORLD can't be taken for a perpetual ride? The money generated should be going back into football, the governing body MUST be accountable, they're not even governed by money laundering regs, it's ridiculous.

Think our best bet is a WADA for ethics and transparency in sport. It's just an idea for now but it's a good one.
Hassony Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 the fan experience is more than having a comfy seat and great access to food and drink.its gonna be f***ing hot there, how about travel costs, etc. A lot cheaper to get to Doha than Russia, Brazil or south africa You won't be able to walk about 'outside cos it will be 50C, some f*cking fan experience that will be.
