Martin Atkinson - Spurs v Liverpool

I'm still fuming at his performance yesterday. He got so many decisions wrong, including ones against us. He really does seem to have a problem with us.

 

Take at look at the fouls, Spurs committed only 6 compared to our 16, I find this unbelievable in today's football that a team can go through 90 minutes committing only 6 FOULS !!!

 

I cannot believe he never booked Hutton for that dive.

 

He booked the whole of our defence ( something I cannot remember happening before), which was why Modric was allowed the freedom to glide passed Johnson and Carra as they had already been previous booked.

 

I also cannot believe he never awarded Spurs a pen for the challenge on Crouch by Cons***sky.

 

I decided to look back at his previous games with us.

 

18 Prem games - Won 7, Drew 6, Lost 5.

 

However it's the cautions that stand out, Only Webb and Dowd from the current crop of refs have cautioned more of our players than Atkinson. Webb (41), Dowd (36) Atkinson (35), but both Webb and Dowd have been in charge of quite a few more games than him.

 

The standard of refereeing in The Prem has declined over the years and Atkinson has to be one if not the worst we could personally have in charge of our games, and I seriously dread the next time we have him.

 

Someone at the club should have the balls to take a fine and pull this c*** up in public.

He's also the ref that sent off Cole against Arsenal while letting two shocking, worse, tackles from Rosicky and Wilshere - the latter a real potential leg-breaker - escape with just yellow cards.

 

There wasn't a single bad foul yesterday yet he booked five of our players. He gave a free-kick for a nothing challenge, which led directly to the penalty and booked Meireles although he won the ball fair and square and yet failed to book Hutton for a laughable dive in our penalty area.

I think you are being too kind on him!! The Kuyt fouls in the box. Crouch was constantly pushing too and barely got called. Johnson's yellow was also hugely dubious. You could tell from our players reactions to many calls against us, they were clearly baffled.

I'll tell you why it is - Atkinson is a very weak referee who can be easily influenced but we're too nice. The Arsenal players' reaction got Cole sent off in the opening game.

 

Atkinson will give you decisions if you swarm round him and get in his face, which we are rubbish at. In an ideal world I'd be happy with the fact that we don't behave like that, but in the real world everyone else is doing it and we are suffering because we don't. For this reason I dread us having Atkinson referee our games, and he consistently gives major decisions against us because of this.

Torres has nagged him to death over repeatedly getting hammered and has received either a yellow card or a blank stare.

think he'd made up his mind he was going to book meireles before he even made the challenge. then hutton did the same challenge five minutes later and we got a throw off it.
