Liverpool's young striker Suso has revealed that he turned down offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid to join the Merseyside club.

The 17-year-old only recently signed his first professional contract with the club, penning a deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2013.

The forward insists that a talk with former boss Rafael Benitez, coupled with memories of the 2005 ChampionsLeague final in Istanbul, proved to be pivotal in turning his head towards the Reds.

"I had good offers from them [barcelona and Real Madrid]," Suso told the club's official website.

"I was going to sign for Real Madrid but one day before it the phone rang and Rafael Benitez spoke to me. He convinced me that Liverpool was the club for me and after that I had to change my plans. I was going to come to Liverpool.

"I have always liked the Premier League more than La Liga and I decided that it would be better for me to come here - even with the English weather!

"I remember watching the final of the Champions League in 2005 when Liverpool beat AC Milan. It was an amazing final and after that I really liked the idea of playing for this team."

Now the Spanish starlet is looking to break into the first-team and establish himself as a regular, so as to carve out a long and fruitful future at the club.

"I feel very happy. I want to be here a lot of years. I want to go on and play for Liverpool's first team, playing in every game," he added.

"But if I want to have that I have to work harder and do my very best every day, in every training session."

Gonna be a superstar this boy given the right chances.

Can't see many of the world's top youngsters being talked into turning down Real Madrid or Barcelona by Roy Hodgson.

"Suso may be a major talent, but only in the reserves. I must admit, I am not in the mood for talking about positives considering our league position. And the fans aren't exactly helping."

I've always felt he was a bit lightweight and unsuited to the English game, if he was going to make it here he'd have made it by now.

I have also heard stories about him being naughty, but i can't say anything more...........

suso? What kind of name is that? that spanish pacheko kid got away with my pretending his name was Daniel, so managed to stick around. By the time I actually spoke to him and saw him the transfer window had shut. Now I've got this suso kid too? Unbelievable, this club is going nowhere with these kids. I better sign Carlton Cole this jan, i mean, Gomez? What kind of name is that? sounds like someone from the adam's family.

I don't give a f*** if he's killed someone to be honest, if he'll improve our starting XI or match day 18 at the moment he should be in.
