madaboutlfc Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Bebe- what a great signing he looks at the moment.. makes Konchesky look like a bargain.. £8m then we have Tosic and Ljajić for around £16.3m.. Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves were also signed for around £55m.. no one in the media bats an eyelid regarding how poor these signings have been.. Apart fron Nani I doubt any of them could get more than 50% of the price they were signed for..

Its about winning stuff, all the he spent she spent only comes into it when there's need to justify or pillory not winning
carrafan Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Its about winning stuff, all the he spent she spent only comes into it when there's need to justify or pillory not winning True. And because of his record, Ferguson will always be exempt for major criticisms about signings even if he doesnt win a single league title from now on. The next united manager is going to be f***ed.
Sion Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 They obviously are in decline. Its not up for arguement. They may spawn few trophies in the next few years but their current team is the worst they've had in a long time and they don't have the money to improve it
CarraLegend Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 They clearly are in decline as it stands. I know some people on here think you deserve life in prison for daring to be criticial of them but its obvious. And I know I'll get a tedious reply to this of "but it was said they were in decline a zillion years ago and they still won the league" but their circumstances are not the same now so its a pointless comparison. It wasnt that long ago they had Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney backed up by younger and better versions of Vidic, Ferdinand etc. Now its just Wayne Rooney and older, poorer versions of said players. Before they'd just go and throw money at the problem, now they cant and thats why they're declining. Just like our owners were wrecking our team theirs are doing it to them, the only difference is they had a higher starting point so it doesnt look quite so bad. Yet.
lfc003 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 It's rather sickening that despite all these poor signings and having a mediocre looking team on paper Utd will still finish in the top 2 and reach the latter stages of all the cup competitions this season
gulaman Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 It doesn't matter how many flops Ferguson signs, since his team are always either challenging for or winning the top trophies. It's a bit dense to criticise his signings when they're helping him to win titles.
growler Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 and you can't mention those without seeing how good Rafael, Smalling, nani, Hernandez and Bebe do actually look. This is a manager who has created a number of teams in the past, so I would proceed with caution. I wonder if he is interested in doing it again though? Or willing to walk when Scholes, vander saar, Neville and Giggs do, and let the next man pick up the pieces. HargreavesCarrickValenciatosicLlajicNaniAndersonBebeSmallingHernandez thse are the big ones I can think of, there are others too like vidic, Evra for example, which have been good signings.
