The term world class is thrown about way too often. If you had to pick 5 players who are world class today who would you pick and why?

Whilst we on the topic how about three managers?

For me its

Messi

Ronaldo

Xavi

Rooney

Alves

Funguson

Mourhino

Guadiola

Rooney and Alves ahead of Ineista and Villa?

I'll pick a team for you instead

Cassilas

Maicon (as long as he isn't facing Bale)

Pique

Puyol

A Cole

Xavi

Xabi

Messi

Ronaldo

Eto

Bale ©

Posted

Reina

Mascherano

Torres

Ashley Cole

David Villa

I know he's flavour of the week but Bale on current form if he can keep it up.

Managers:

Hiddink

Ancelotti

Rafa

s***coat (He a world class prick as well).

I toyed with Ferguson for the manager, but his record in Europe is poor. Same for Wenger.

I couldn't bring myself to put wenger as he hasn't done anything for years now. Sure they play nice football but what have they won?

Any manager that has consistently built sides like fungus is worthy. Glad when he retires.

Mourinho is the no brainer. Consistently achieves at different clubs, doesn't travel with his hangers on and is still young.

I actually think there is a real dearth of quality managers. There are some showing potential but of the current crop, not many are stand out managers. In fact, thinking about it guardiola only made my list because there are no others who have done anything on note

and to make it up to 20: -

Reina

Alves

Carvalho

Alonso

mascherano

Sneijder

Robben

Torres

Drogba

Despite Wenger going up his a*** with this I grow mine, not buy them Goode Life thing, I just look at the way he consistently takes raw talent and turns them into top players, it's stunning and outstanding ability. Is it enough, with no recent trophies, just the one CL final? Maybe not, but it's not as if he hasn't got his share of PL titles to put on the table.

------------- Schwartzer

Paintsil Hangeland Hughes Konchesky

---------- Murphy Dembele

------- Davies Poulsen Duff

------------ Zamora

That's the dream team Roy with his vision is trying to build at Liverpool. World class.

Devil's advocate - who has he really done that with?

Anelka, Fabregas, Henry.....

Ashley Cole, Adebayor, Viera, Clichy, Van Persie in the first breath, a fair few more like Flamini, Llundberg and Toure who were excellent for them. The overriding thing being genuine improvement.

You've forgotten Jimmy Bullard.

del bosque, by the criteria which appears to being used here. personally i think it's not as simple as that.

i can see the argument for having wenger as a world class manager, in terms of how deeply he's left his imprint on one club, reshaped it's future etc. in terms of an overriding legacy who's to say he hasn't achieved far more than world cup and champions' league winner del bosque, even if there seems to be a stubborn streak and some tactcial naivety that may see him fall short of winning european cups or even the premiership again.

Pique for Puyol and Gerrard for Essien I'd be pretty happy with that.

Not one person has Bale in their top 5, that is just wrong, he is the 2nd best player in the world behind Xavi........Patrick Barclay said so
