heskey has all the attributes to be a top player

the problem is he is a coward and has no balls and goes off injured in most games even though there is nowt wrong with him

to be fair to Ged, he's saying that Heskey could be as good as Drogba if he had the mentality. I think that's correct. Obviously never going to happen now though.

He couldn't though could he. He's not on Drogba's level technically for a starter.

I don't think the gap is as big as you suggest in terms of technique, though that is at least in part because it isn't one the strongest parts of Drogba's game either. Obviously he can produce technically difficult stuff - that goal on the turn against us a few years ago - but then so could Heskey on occasion.

What stands out about Drogba is his strength (and how he uses it) and competetiveness. They are things that Heskey conspicually lacks on a regular basis but as they are such crucial attributes for players of that type, Houllier's favourable comparison is a bit of a pointless one. But then he'll know that and is simply trying to boost his player, I suppose.

Heskey always had the attributes to be a fantastic striker but has always been let down by his self belief. Houllier's public assessments of him are spot on in terms of trying to boost Emile's ego. If he can sort that out he will be a great asset to Villa. The kind of man management Torres needs at the moment.

Drogba has developed a lot the past two years. He's a creative player now, capable of setting up teammates with great passing, has a very composed head for passing and finishing, in addition to being a deadly finisher and battering ram par excellence. He simply does everything these days. Best striker in the world for me.

Even if Heskey had dropped all those mental blockades and actually managed to build on his treble season form, I don't see him ever becoming the kind of player drogba is today. He could have equalled the Drogba of 3-4 years ago though.

Heskey doesn't deserve to have his name uttered in the same sentence as Drogba. Absolute drivel from Houllier - file next to Camara is the African Overmars.
