Snookie Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 There is an undercurrent of sadness, resentment and anger in just about every post on the forum at the moment. All of this can be traced - directly or indirectly - back to the vermin who own the club but lets fast-forward sometime into the future when they are gone and imagine what the club could look like? What kind of owners and ownership model would you prefer? For example Absolutely loaded? UK based? People with a strong background in sports management? Or ones who actively encourage fan participation in the running of the club? And so on.What would the management team look like?Who would you like to see the club recruit?Who should be gone? What would be your expectations for the rest of the season?Should we attempt to return to our traditional values or begin afresh?Personally I'd like to see active fan involvement in the running of the club but I would not like to see them owning a majority of the shareholding for the moment. There are too many disagreements between fan groups and these could extend in to how the club is run. I'm also not certain that the union model on which SOS is based is the right one to be use for day to day management of any organisation seeking to maximise revenues. There needs to be a clear vision and an ability to respond quickly to challenges and the union model with its sub-committees and extend consultation is not the way to do not this. Having said all that I would like to see the club eventually end up in the hands of fans and while we are getting there it should be run on simple, very clearly defined principled. To paraphrase it should exist to win things and make people happy. The latter could cover things like ticket pricing, community participation and so on. Owners in the mould of Robert Kraft or Randy Learner would be ideal. The business operations of the club should be run by sports professionals. Whether the current encumbants are the right people I don't know. Purslow is such a divisive figure that no matter how capable he is as a business man it may well be worthwhile getting rid of him just to lance a boil. Again in an ideal world I'd like to see David Dein being brought in but whether that is realistic I don't know. I would like to see the position of club president created and Kenny Dalglish given the role. Getting rid of Roy Hodgson seems to be the obvious decision but then we're faced with choosing a successor. I cannot help but feel that this will be the most important/difficult appointment we have to make since the departure of Joe Fagan. Mourinho is an obvious choice if we want to begin winning trophies straight away but I find his attitude and behavior inconsistent with my vision of what the club stands for. Van Gaal is a reasonable shout as is Hiddink. If we were looking to build for the long term then recruiting a bright young manager could be an option. Owen Coyle stands out for me as someone with the ability to take the step up in the long term. His teams and the manner in which he conducts himself have really impressed me. The only issue might be that he has neither played or managed at the highest level and this may cause friction with some members of the current squad. That shouldn't happen but it is a strong possibility given the way in which certain players concerns appear to have been factored in to recent decisions. We need a new left back, a centre back, two central midfielders, a winger and at least one striker. In a money no object world, Christian Chivu would be my choice for left back, Gerald Pique would slot in to the centre back position and Robben would be signed as a winger. However, with the exception of Chivu I don't think they are realistic options. If we finish in the top third of the table I'd be reasonably happy. If we get taken over and employ a new manger before christmas then I'd love to have a good cup run also. Over to you.
Flasher Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 New manager, this one is a c...... not good enough. Money to build stadium Initial investment in squad David Dein as MD the rest will take care of itself. The club can fund itself, just needs a kick start and the right management.
smithdown Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 So long as it isn't being stolen from this club is magic and will bounce back to annoy the f*ck out of the parts of the country that think Hodgson is the kind of fella we should have as manager.
mofus77 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I'd like a manager who plays attacking football. The last 3 have been cautious in their overall outlook, says a lot when Rafa was the most progressive of the three. I'm not looking for Kevin Keegan like lunacy, just a return to us being the dominant attacking force.

Looking at Arsenal's finances you realise what an amazing job he did there. They have a brand new 60,000 odd stadium, one of the best youth academies in Europe, and, most importantly, are going to be completely debt free within a few years. Us and Man U and only look on in envy. Shows what we could have been under Moores and Parry had Moores had any balls and had Parry had any ability.
honourablegeorge Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Purslow gone, as he has no contract, it shouldn't be an issue. Hodgson mutually consented quickly. Half a dozen players told to find new clubs. All the profits spent on new players for a few years. Stadium built, paid for by naming rights and the money it generates. Job done.

Anyway - Ian Ayre seems like he's doing a cracking job on bringing in the money - all we need now is to have redirected to the right areas. Edited October 1, 2010 by fyds

Ed Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 SOS/ShareLiverpool to own a significant stake in the Club, enough to influence key decisions like the building of a new stadium, appointment of a new manager etc.Chief Executives who stick to generating commercial revenue, and giving the Manager money.A Manager who is also a Leader, one who builds for the future, who invests time and money in the Academy, and takes pride in the Club. Some knowledge of effective, modern football tactics would help too....

Ha!, knew there would be one. Nice of you to pick some of the most exceptional results of a 5 year period to back up your argument. I reckon Rafa was inherently cautious, especially against the smaller teams in the league when we should have been going for the throat. Basically I think those results were because we were clearly the better team and if anything I think the list of big victories like that should be longer. There was too many draws in key league matches and Rafa's caution has to be a factor there. I'd still have him back mind.

Arsenal won't be debt-free for 20 years and that depends on their qualifying for the CL every year

Eh? We're better than Chelsea and Man Utd? I must have been asleep for the last 5 years when they both kept winning the league.

Red Kent Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Wouldn't change a think apart from getting Heskey back. Can't see the point of this thread to be honest.
KIDORIGINAL Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I'd want the current debt to be cleared, clear plans for Stanley Park to be put in place and for the club to be run with honesty and transparency. Like Real and Man United, we can more or less manage ourselves from that point.
stressederic Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Be decent if they could build a statue of me outside the new ground. I reckon I deserve it.
Murphman Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Debt cleared obviously.70000 seater stadium built and paid for with sponsorship and a mortgage over 20 years.£100m warchest to rebuild quickly and normal seasonal transfer funds after that at a level a top club would expect to remain competitive.Get Rafa back. Not much to ask is it? -Edit- Plus a statue of Eric obviously. Edited October 1, 2010 by Murphman
Stevie Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 To sell decent beer. If that's too much then: What Murph said + people who understand football making footballing decisions, regeneration of the local area - including better parking etc, going back to our old ethics e.g. not blabbing things to the press to get one over a colleague etc.

DH is taken away frothing at the mouth to Rainhill were he and Cecil are put in the cell next to Roy's..
