Gunga Din Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 onwards and upwards or further into oblivion. what do we do and who do we play. we need not only a win, but a convincing win. Agger back in at CB, Poulson dropped for Lucas, Cole on the left, The new lad beside Lucas and Gerrard off Torres, with Babel (yes i know he stank the place out last night) on the right, with express instructions to get the ball to the byline and stick it in the box

Guest PaulMcC Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I agree that we need a performance. No sitting deep, press the opposition all over the pitch. ------------------Reina Johnson Carra Agger Aurelio ------------Lucas Meireles Maxi-----------Gerrard-------Cole-----------------Torres Maybe play Kuyt if he's fit.

That's what I'm expecting.
CarraLegend Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 ReinaJohnson Carra Agger KoncheskyPoulson MeirelesKuyt Gerrard ColeTorres Yep, thats what I'd like to see, though Kelly for that useless c*** at left back. I'm expecting a truly dismal match, with us camped just outside our own penalty area, low tempo, letting Sunderland cross the ball all day and then a bold substitution of Agger for Konchesky on 89 minutes.

Benzo-13 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 beat these or f*ck off Yep! Kelly, Agger and Aurelio in the back four if at all possible.Play some football too or get out.
MarkD Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) 0-0 Steve Bruce after the match is diappointed that his Sunderland were unable to follow Northampton's lead but takes great pleasure from Roy's 4-6-0 formation and for being able substitute his goalkeeper at half-time to stop him catching a cold through a lack of activity. The commentators also noted that there were numerous scuffles in the crowd where pro- and ant- Roy Hodgson groups came together - thus allowing the on-looking owners to escape unsullied. Oh just give it up, you boring, boring man. Used to like your posts, what the hell has happened to you? Don't answer, that was a rhetorical question. Just stop it. We know where you stand. Try to stay in the moment, eh?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Reina Johnson Carra Agger Aurelio ------Meireles Gerrard-------- Maxi--------Cole---------Meh! -------------Torres-------------- Meireles, Gerrard, Cole and Maxi can all play ball. Receive in tight spots, lay it off first time, make moves forward to receive passes. Ideally I'd stick Cole left and slot Aquilani in as well. I just crave some positive keep-ball with a bit of forward momentum - the kind we saw on Cole's debut against Rabonitki

Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Kuyt as your 11th man with Cole switching to left-mid? Is Kuyt not still injured ?
richwilks Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Reina Johnson - Agger - Kyriagkos - Kelly Babel - Gerrard - Merieles - Cole Ngog - Torres Be great to come away with a respectable 1 goal loss.
Kahnee Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 to be honest, we've been trying that for the best part of 12 months, and i've come to the conclusion it might not be the best way forward. It's too early to judge And feck off Eskimo
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I may watch this from behind the sofa
stressederic Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I've got a bad feeling about this. Sunderland normally have a massive mental block about playing away at ours, but they'll fancy it on Saturday. It's early in the season as well, so they don't really have anything to lose.
Logic Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 1. Don't play a centre back at full back. Preferably use 2 fullbacks to play in the fullback positions.2. Play Agger and Kyrgiakos in defence. (We need at least one player who can head the ball in there).3. Play only ONE holding midfielder and pair him with a box-to-box midfielder. (Lucas + Meireles)4. Don't play Meireles as attacking midfielder. Just because he's portuguese doesn't mean he's an attacking midfielder. 5. Play Gerrard on a 3 behind the striker. The other two being Pacheco and Cole. Tell them about this amazing thing called moving. And passing.6. Tell the three to stay closer to Torres than the midfield two.7. Tell Torres to stop playing stationary between the CB's and use the space created behind the fullbacks.8. Tell the players that they are better than the opponent. Tell them to show you (the boss) that.9. Tell them that they'll be punished in training if the opponent has the ball within 10% less than us. => press them when they have the ball and keep the ball as much as possible. If that means 15 passes moving between defence and midfield that's OK. 10. Tell the players to pressure the ref at all times.11. Be prepared to make a change even in the first half if things aren't working. Plan to make a change at around 55-60min, where you take off the worst/(least good) performer.12. If 20-15min left of game and the score is still level. Make positive changes to the shape of the team and tell them to f***ing pick themselves up. Each game that we are not winning should be treated like a cup game we are losing. => All out attack getting more than 1-3 players in the box for crosses.13. After the game, blast the referee (even if we win) picking on any 50/50 we didn't get. 14. Defend your players if they get criticism from anyone.
