Bailo Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 "I grew up in an era of where Liverpool Football Club let the players and the managers do the talking" Hahahahaha!
Row47 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Massive BellendToo harsh in my opinion. We ask for info he tells us and gets called a bell end
aka Dus Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Too harsh in my opinion. We ask for info he tells us and gets called a bell end He gives answers to 21 carefully selected questions.
smithdown Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Extraordinarily busy summer of transfer activity? Yeah, maybe it was if you have no experience of football administration. The man's a liar.
Row47 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 He gives answers to 21 carefully selected questions.and?
Superjay Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Whats the point of that interview? He dodges so many of the questions.
Mike Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 extremely interesting reading that. no one should underestimate the significance of the club's managing director using the club's own TV channel to tell the club's owners he won't let them refinance if it puts more debt on the club.
johngibo YPC Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 Too harsh in my opinion. We ask for info he tells us and gets called a bell end Have you read it? How spectacularly high is his opinion of himself? And how is that reflected in his success at this club? And how is buying Rafa's house going Purslow you prick?
aka Dus Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) and? And you don't seem to get it. What year is it in your head that you believe everything you see written down? extremely interesting reading that. no one should underestimate the significance of the club's managing director using the club's own TV channel to tell the club's owners he won't let them refinance if it puts more debt on the club. Agreed, this is good. Lines in sand can get washed away but we have long memories. Edited September 22, 2010 by aka Dus
Stevie H Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 no one should underestimate the significance of the club's managing director using the club's own TV channel to tell the club's owners he won't let them refinance if it puts more debt on the club.that's been leaked to journos for several weeks now, it's not news. i find this answer more interesting as it's a real public commitment: 21. What would you say to supporters worried the club will go bust in October? "Liverpool Football Club is not going bust. We have an extremely healthy business with record revenues and we are highly profitable. The issue today is that too much of that profit is being used to service loans put into place when the club was bought. We are dealing with that issue. When we sell the business that debt will be reduced or go away which will make us the most profitable club in the Premier League. Liverpool is not going bust."
Falconhoof Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 extremely interesting reading that. no one should underestimate the significance of the club's managing director using the club's own TV channel to tell the club's owners he won't let them refinance if it puts more debt on the club. I don't see why he needs to do that, or why it carries any extra weight than him telling them on the phone. Unless its a message that will get through to any banks that Hicks may be speaking to ?

CarraLegend Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 He certainly likes himself thats for sure!
Tobes Rafa Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Not enough made of the player transfer kitty question.
Lee W Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 "I say again, every single penny we generate from selling footballers goes back into buying footballers." Liar.
Bailo Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Liar.Maybe not. Maybe we're sitting on a warchest of £30m or so.
Leo No.8 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Well tickle me pink and call me Neville Chamberlain - I'm appeased! Glad to read a few things in there about acknowledging the level of debt and refusal of the board to allow refinance, much of this is positive. But the bit about all the money being spent back on players is just irritating and makes me question everything else he says.
stressederic Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Maybe not. Maybe we're sitting on a warchest of £30m or so. We've buried it on a desert island for safe-keeping. Don't worry though, we've got a map and everything.
Bailo Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 We've buried it on a desert island for safe-keeping. Don't worry though, we've got a map and everything. We hid the microfilm map in Broughton's hair.
Molby Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Too harsh in my opinion. We ask for info he tells us and gets called a bell end so when he says that 100% of player sale proceeds gets re-invested in players? either he's a liar or we've taken on an incompetent new manager, although Purslow was already a liar in this respect last season Edited September 22, 2010 by Molby

It renders everything else he says extremely untrustworthy.
dorgie Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I think he's wrong when he says that no sale is better than selling to the wrong buyer, especially given Gillette's financial situation. To me, both situations are equally as bad and very likely to lead to doomsday, ie selling our top players and/or worse. I do believe he is trying to find the right buyer. I don't believe him on transfer money stuff. I believe he is also s***ting himself of what will happen if the right buyer isn't found.
Row47 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Whether you like him or not he and the board are moving the Yanks out. I think he has made some poor decisions , poor comments but to dismiss him its short sighted. Interpretation of what is said on TV , in a meeting or off the record is everything. Clear to me is he wants a sale of the club. Clear is he wants new owners who will pay off the deby. He intimates he is carrying out a depth of scrutiny that was not carried out before. For thase that are saying Im not up to date. I read every articleopinion I can daily. This has consumed my life as has LFC. I will be there again tonight !! Will you?
