We had a thread about this a while ago and my Dad had started some tests, which were ongoing and they weren't sure if it was just old age or the start of Alzheimer's, well, last week my Dad had another load of scans and tests. He has been rather well recently and in very good form (Maybe it was just normal old age afterall), he even did really well in the test, he just go two questions wrong, the year (He thought it was 2011 and Mum caught him throwing food out the other day coz it was all 2010) and where he was at that time (He new the address and how to get there, but he couldn't tell them he was at the Resource Centre, he'd never heard of it). In the scans the right side of brain showed normal ageing, but frontal lobe has shown up the start of alzheimers.

Now I guess its been on the cards so it's not a shock, but I have been dreading this moment and now its confirmed, i'm gutted. Thing is, they have said that they are going to keep on with the checks and only start mediciation when he wans too!?! How the f*** dose that work then? How the f*** is he going to know whens a good time to start, he thinks its all b******s anyway!!

Is this normal procedure with Alzeheimers? I know a few on here have had experience on here so just asking from their point of view and experiences, cause my own point of view is that surely the sooner they start treating it the better!! I know it's not a cure but anything that might help him and ergo my Mum through this very much welcomed...
