StevieC Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Human Resources in my company are being c*nts (shock horror). New responsibilities within my re-structured team were announced in February incorporating a lot more responsibility, skilled work and deliverables, along with all the work that had to be done as part of the old role. At the time I requested that my job description be updated which should include a salary review to take into account the new role and everything that went with it. They agreed but suggested I needed to submit a new job description (on the basis they have no f***ing idea what I do or what qualifications you need to do it). I duly submitted a new JD and waited, and waited and waited, occasionally forcing the issue but being told it was being looked into and I needed to wait for 'things to settle down'. In early-September I brought it to a head and the role and package was duly updated after a series of painful discussions. I made the point that the role began in February and their ineptitude and lack of process wasn't my problem, and that the salary should therefore be backdated. A letter duly arrives stating the salary would be backdated to June. When I queried this they said they didn't even have to do that but this was in recognition of the results the role has already brought (no sh*t- I've been working all hours to get them for six months. Apparently for free). So, do I have a case to say they are obliged to back date until February (when they officially told the whole company about the new responsibilities via email) or do they have a legal precedent to stand on?
