Epic Swindle Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Not high up the list of priorities obviously but there's a game on. Could be an ideal opportunity to get a few goals on the board going into the game against the mancs. The JonesKelly Greek Agger KonchBabel Poulsen Merieles PachecoColeNgog

I'd also hope that Agger plays against Utd so would not be adverse to seeing Skrtel line up on that basis. I think Babel, Pacheco and Cole are all due a game so its a possible scenario.
Epic Swindle Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 I'd be temped to play Pepe but he picks up an injury and then we really are f***ed.

The JonesKelly Greek Agger KonchBabel Poulsen Merieles PachecoColeNgog I'd play very close to that team. Wouldn't pick Konchesky though, as he went off injured and is likely to start on Sunday
Woodsyla Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) I'd play Torres, he's still not match sharp so a good 60 mins wont hurt before Sunday. Edit - sharp is probably the right word, he's fit Edited September 14, 2010 by Woodsyla
johngibo YPC Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Shelvey and Pacheco have gotta play. I'd like to see Shelvey get "minutes" but would be looking to start Merieles so we can assess if he is ready to play at all on Sunday. And would play him with one of Lucas or Poulson. Basically whoever RH isn't going to start on Sunday
beejay Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Shelvey and Pacheco have gotta play. Shelvey is playing for the reserves tonight. Hopefully he may get a chance next week v Northampton.
Gunga Din Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I'd play Torres, he's still not match sharp so a good 60 mins wont hurt before Sunday. Edit - sharp is probably the right word, he's fit madness that. they'll kick lumps out of him. i wouldnt have him anywhere near cup games til at least after christmas play Ngog
Woodsyla Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 madness that. they'll kick lumps out of him. i wouldnt have him anywhere near cup games til at least after christmas play Ngogf***ing hell Wayne, it's Steau Bucharest at home. Kick lumps out of him. In a European game at Anfield. Off your f***ing rocker. The lad needs to play football. United will kick f***ing lumps out of him and Webb will let them, he should at least get a chance to play football before that happens.

Gerrard, Torres, Reina etc should be nowhere near that side on thursdday. by all means stick them on the bench, but risking an injury to a fragile Torres in this game would be monumentally stupid

This is an opportunity for the manager to try out some of the players who are banging on the door for selection following our poor performances so far. Kelly, Aurelio, Meireles, Babel, Pacheco, Ngog should all play, possibly Joe Cole as well for match practise.

Ngog up, with Pacheco playing the number 7 would maybe be worth a look

Red Kent Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Game by game. Play your best eleven possible. We are all expecting a defeat on Sunday so whats the point in resting players ?
CarraLegend Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Game by game. Play your best eleven possible. We are all expecting a defeat on Sunday so whats the point in resting players ? Agreed, we're going nowhere in the league so lets try and win a cup.

I'm not advocating running him into the ground, I'm saying it's a European home tie, they are not a bunch of cloggers, why not give Torres the chance to get his eye in for 60 mins.
Red Kent Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Agreed, we're going nowhere in the league so lets try and win a cup.I do though reckon the team will be a mixture of regular and squad players.

He's a professional footballer and one who is not in great form, playing football is what he needs not watching it. It's more risky to bring him on in a game like this so he should start, play for an hour raring to go for Sunday which gives him two whole days of rest. He probably does more in training than he will in an hour v Steau.
Cunny Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 anyone know how ticket sales are going?they have increased the prices again haven't they? with the boycott, prices and current form it could be a low crowd
