CarraLegend Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I f***ing loathe internationals http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3284/euro-2012/2010/09/06/2105825/breaking-news-liverpool-star-dirk-kuyt-picks-up-shoulder Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt set for several weeks on the sidelines after picking up shoulder injury in Netherlands training Netherlands head coach Bert van Marwijk has dealt Liverpool a blow after he declared Dirk Kuyt would be sidelined for several weeks with a shoulder injury. Kuyt, 30, started Friday's 5-0 Euro 2012 qualifying thumping of San Marino but has been ruled out of Tuesday's clash against Finland. De Telegraaf has reported that he was sent to hospital for scans to determine the extent of the damage after he sprained a joint landing awkwardly stretching to reach a cross. Van Marwijk has now confirmed the attacker has flown back to Liverpool for further treatment. He was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur: "He will probably have a few weeks off and at 4pm today he will step on to the plane to Liverpool." In a costly session for the Dutch, Kuyt could be joined on the sidelines by VFB Stuttgart and former Chelsea defender Khalid Boulahrouz after he fell victim to a groin strain.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 He'll be back in time for the November internationals probably There's one auxillery striker gone.
anfield11 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I love internationals.....they're great!!!
fred Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Injured? Dirk? Are you sure? I don't see how doing his shoulder would stop Dirk from playing, that's for sure.
Swipe Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Tick follows tock. Don't sign a new striker, and watch the current options we have get injured. Was inevitable.
MarkD Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Tick follows tock. Don't sign a new striker, and watch the current options we have get injured. Was inevitable. It's ok 'cos we nearly signed someone and the money is sitting the player account gathering interest until we swoop in January. Our scouts and Mr Purslow will be working non-stop to indentify potential players for us to 'just miss' - it's not easy you know. In the meantime, we've got Roy and Joe Cole to keep us warm during this early autumnal chill.
MFletcher Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) Is this the first sort of 'semi-serious' injury Dirk's had during his time here? Edited September 6, 2010 by MFletcher

Is there anyone posting on here who doesn't think it was disgraceful that we ended up without a quality back-up striker yet again? Is there anyone on here saying, no worries we've got Roy Hodgson and Joe Cole we don't need a back up striker? Or am I misunderstanding you and you are just venting your spleen at the owners and purslow? - in which case fairy nuff
Red Lecter Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Good job we've got a couple of spare strikers and wide attackers.
Sion Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Its okay, there's only 20 odd games till Jan when we'll have £20m to spend
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Is this the first sort of 'semi-serious' injury Dirk's had during his time here? He's not injured, he's just less fit.
TheLa Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 It's just a good job he doesn't play for England, then I'd be truly gutted...
richwilks Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I can imagine the uproar if Aquilani had a sprained shoulder.
Falconhoof Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 It will be interesting to see how we adapt to that. We could give Babel a run of games on that wing
fyds Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 He'll shake that off with a reboot. Can't see him being out for that long. He's made of windmills and clogs ffs.
MFletcher Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Maxi should now play on the right. Babel should be left on the bench.
David Hodgson Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 It will be interesting to see how we adapt to that. We could give Babel a run of games on that wing Yes ! Hot on the heals of his sensational performance in the testimonial. RyBabs is on fire and Roy can't hold him back any longer.

Were they chanting his name in Peter Kavanagh's for hours after? I read in the match thread, you went there afterwards. I miss that little old pub.
