moptop46 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 End of an era?Well you could say our last league championship win was the end of an era, and i wouldn't argue much about that. But we have had great nights and days. F.A. cup wins .League cup ,UEFA cup, 2005!.But as a 50 year old fan , brought up on Walton Breck Road , i really feel now this is the end of an era.I have never felt so depressed about our club, never have i seen the future so dim. These Yanks are not going to let go. Not until the club is stripped bare.It wont get any better until it gets worse , and by then it will be to late. But Roy and Konchesky , and every other mediocre replacement will get get my support on the pitch. Why? because this is Liverpool, and it is Liverpool that matters to me.
pipnasty Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Never give up, ever. This may be the end of a particular era but how many thought that after the glory years of the 60's, 70's and 80' we would ever see a night like Istanbul? Things are going to be tough for the foreseeable future but our spirit will never be diminished. And they can't defeat that and we will win this battle because of that. And when nights like Istanbul do come again, imagine how good that will feel. When you walk, through a storm.........

Falconhoof Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 This club is far too special for the end of anything. It may take a while but we'll be back.

D.Boon Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 All football fans have a tendency towards the overly dramatic, i'm as guilty as anyone, however, these are massively worrying times.

Michael Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 There is and always will be an intangible magic about Liverpool Football Club.

growler Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 i agree, we are on the cusp. If the we dont get the right owners before Jan, I see us 'doing an everton' with a big drop in the table, reputation and expectations. Yes, us lot, like all core supporters will be around wherever we end up, but top players and sponsors will not. I can see a parallel with Sheffield Wednesday, where they got into a downward spiral that still hasn't stopped. I can't see us falling that far, but definitely settling into mediocrity, too good to go down, not good enough for europe or CL. You could argue that homegrown stalwarts Gerrard and Carra have also carried the club higher, who will do that on the pitch too? worrying times indeed.

Maybe it's blind optimism or maybe it's because I think we're too good a chance for a certain someone out there to pass up when the moment is right that I think it will work out for us - and maybe sooner than most of us think. keep the faith.

I agree, but thankfully Channel 10 Australia are now showing LFCTV free to air, which has to be considered the first step on the road back to glory.
Mike Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 man u went down for 2 seasons in the 70's. perspective chaps. we are still lfc.
JRC Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 man u went down for 2 seasons in the 70's. perspective chaps. we are still lfc.Only 1 but the point still stands. The wilderness years for any other club consist of a damn site worse than anything we have experienced since Shanks days. Not that that means we can be complacent about where this current phase could end up.

Journey of thousand mile begin with single step. It's the new 'death by a thousand cuts'.

DecidedByPoll Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 This forum is full of pussies. The girly wailing on here is sometime hard to bear. Man up, and if you're deflated, take some action. If you're down, get off your a*** and do something.

Personally I'm very sanguine about the situation at the club and losing no sleep whatsoever. The Yanks will be gone fairly soon. We'll have new owners and we can kick on. Don't see why there's all the doom and gloom on here. The current situation is a temporary pause in the club's progress and it'll soon be over
growler Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 whilst I Would like to think its a temporary blib, lets imagine the worst. the current owners DO manage to find someone stupid enough to mortgage the clubs assets. we don't manage to find new owners this season and finish 8th. Next summer for sure we would lose Gerrard, Torres, Reina. It would all be downhill from there. If Man City finish 4th and spurs don't completely embaress themselves in the CL this season, we could drift for a while. On the other hand, if we push all the right buttons with RBS, they will foreclose, and by hook or crook we will have new owners, and providing they are the right ones, we will be well set to compete, just as the mancs are on the way down.
eljay Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 We've never finished outside the top 8 since we were promoted in 1962. An awesome record. It's early days yet, but I could see us falling below that this season. That would signal the end of an era for me.
