I've gone 6th. I think we have the 6th best squad so wouldn't necessarily consider it a failure

We should have done better in the transfer window though

Doubt we will win a cup either

I have voted fifth on basis that there are now 4 clubs with better strength in depth than us. This assuming we don't ship out Torres and Gerrard in January obviously

I'm going for 4th, I think the Mancs, Chelsea and Arsenal will be clear of everyone.

Man City are gonna be hit and miss, the egos will beat the big teams but will struggle when they should be steam rollering teams. Spurs first season in the CL will catch them out.

We are in a worse state this season than last, however I don't think our players will play as bad all at the same time ever again. If that makes sense.

I've put 5th behind Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U & Man City but even that will be tough because Spurs, Villa & Everton are strong as well.

My only hope, rather than expectation, is that this will be the last season we have to put up with low standards and an acceptance that we are not in a position to compete. That means ridding ourselves of the vermin of Gillett & Hicks. Roll on 6th October.

3 votes for first. no one honestly believes we will finish first so i dont know why they bother voting for it.

I have gone for 6th. I dont see Nando staying fit. We have a weaker squad than Spurs and City now. If we were to make top 4 i would be f***in delighted, but i honestly cant see it.

i've gone for 4th. it has to be the minimum accepted standard

It should be though that is a terrible thing in itself when you think about what was considered acceptable in the past.

I've gone for 8th or lower because there is such a stench of decline about the club. Taking the team out of the equation for a moment, the likelihood of a 9 point deduction means that 8th could be considered a reasonable performance at the end of the season. However, with the exception of the second half against Arsenal, the performances in the premiership and Europa league games have been as bad as I've seen from any Liverpool team. Watching the game on Saturday, you had to wonder which one of the teams was the relegation candidate.

Souness and Houllier's teams were also painful to watch but at least you had a sense that a new manager coming in could turn things around. This time the introduction of a new one is symptomatic of the mess the club is in. Whatever the rights and wrongs of getting rid of Rafa were, its a dead issue. Its happened and the question now is whether Hodgson is good enough to manage Liverpool. I didn't think so when he was appointed and I've seen nothing so far to make me thing otherwise. He seems a man out of his depth. His appointment is emblematic of the decline of the club. Put it this way, if Paisley was still managing Liverpool, and LFC was the club it once was, one whose only purpose was to win things and make people happy (to paraphrase Shankly), would he be even discussed as a potential replacement?
