Red Kent Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I know Roy has said that he's not bothered about this competition as he believes it will hinder our Premiership campaign. However, even though I would rather win the Prem and the FA Cup before this competition, the Europa League is still a massive competition with many top European sides with years of history and also up and coming teams. I think it's only been devalued by the rise and self-importance of the Champions League. I don't know what team he's going to put out but I hope it's a strong one with the likes of Gerrard and Torres starting, and DEFINATELY NO f***in Mascherano.
Zoob Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'm just disappointed that the group stages no longer consists of 5 team groups and a seemingly random allocation of home and away fixtures.
Red Kent Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 I'm just disappointed that the group stages no longer consists of 5 team groups and a seemingly random allocation of home and away fixtures. Wasn't aware of that, so is it a group of four then ?
CarraLegend Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Hopefully we get absolutely battered so I can come on here and gloat.
stressederic Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'm just disappointed that the group stages no longer consists of 5 team groups and a seemingly random allocation of home and away fixtures. How did that actually work? I could never work it out.
richwilks Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Hopefully we get absolutely battered so I can come on here and gloat. Excellent stuff
Rocheteau Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Its on a knife edge and whatever team he puts out the match is going to played in an intense atmosphere. I have no desire to see us get beat under any circumstances and I'd like us to come away with a win as its a trophy whatever others think. Hodgson will have to think long and hard about who he trusts to stand up against the Turkish side because at the moment that seems to be a major problem. Trabzonspur were solid and comfortable in possession but not spectacular in the final third, I think its going to be one of those games where the first goal really will decide things. I'll be pleased for the manager if we do get through, sorry if we dont. Sadly not emotions that will be shared universally
Cisse Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Team guess: ---Reina----Kelly-Soto-Carta-Aurelio---Poulsen-GerrardMaxi--Cole--Babel------N'Gog-----
Woodsyla Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'll be pleased for the manager if we do get through, sorry if we dont. Sadly not emotions that will be shared universallyTrue, the bitter b******s wont be sorry if we go out. If you are talking about LFC fans I don't think you will find many who actually WANT us to lose games. I just don't want to watch us lose by deploying shockingly poor tactics and feel the right to raise this on a forum when it happens.
Cunny Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Trabzonspor 9/2 to qualify. I'll be having a bit of that.
Eiler99 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Trabzonspor beat Fenerbahce 3-2 yesterday. Hope we play a strong team or I think we'll get in trouble. I really want us to make the group stages as it'll mean more games for a few of the fringe players and some decent european aways for the supporters.

Sion Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Sadly not emotions that will be shared universally Us going out of the Europa League won't get him the sack, unfortunately. So we might as well win.
Rocheteau Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 You really are a whiny prick aren't you? No need for that comment. My apologies if I touched a nerve but you only have to look at some of the comments in the post matched thread to understand that there are a number of individuals who have decided that they are going to make things as difficult for Hodgson as they believe things were made for Benitez. Whatever your views about how Benitez was treated I dont personally believe that after a couple of matches the new manager is deserving of the abuse he has received from those who see themselves as supporters of the club. Same supporters who now seem to be going all coy and claiming that they have the right to criticise sions comments sadly sum it up

Sion Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 sions comments sadly sum it up It sums nothing up as you've clearly had a sense of humour failure.
honourablegeorge Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I have never known a Liverpool manager get as little support as this. It's not about support. There are plenty people on here who think Lucas isn't good enough. But they still support the team, and it's not questioned. Why should it be any different for the manager?

Support is and always will unconditional.
Hightown Phil Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Just because you think he's done things wrong doesn't mean he's not supported.
Red Kent Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Just because you think he's done things wrong doesn't mean he's not supported. That is fair enough, but quite a few comments go way further than that. I don't agree with some things he's done upto now.
CarraLegend Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 So if it's not about support, then nothing else matters does it ? Support is and always will unconditional.I still cant quite get my head around you preaching at others about not supporting a manager. Incredible!
Red Kent Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 I still cant quite get my head around you preaching at others about not supporting a manager. Incredible! But the point is do you agree or not ? nb - not that I'm arsed.
Sion Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 But the point is do you agree or not ? nb - not that I'm arsed.Everyone is supporting the manager, everyone wants him to do well, do suggest otherwise is stupid. People are rightfully criticising s*** when they see it, just because he's new doesn't mean we should just shut up and take performances like last night as par for the course.

People are rightfully criticising s*** when they see it, just because he's new doesn't mean we should just shut up and take performances like last night as par for the course. The level of criticism especially for a manager five games into his tenour is ridiculous on here. Is every defeat going to receive the same amount of backlash ?
CarraLegend Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 But the point is do you agree or not ? nb - not that I'm arsed. Agree with what? It's just some comments on an internet messageboard. If someone at the match is shouting abuse at him or whatever then yes that is way out of line and said person or people should be t****** then thrown out. Its not fair but he's replaced a popular manager, has an uninspiring CV, a dismal away record in this league and is a sign of the alarming decline in the club. So people are going to lash out earlier than usual. Same as people have done with Aquilani, same as people did with the Greek before he'd even signed because he wasnt Sami Hyypia, it's just what happens. Theres something absolutely hilarious about being told to support the manager by you though, the same man who had such a hatred of the last one he even tried to mock the clubs last Champions League win.
