im dumbfounded to the whole Aquilani thing

 

something just isnt right

 

we now have a second manager that wont play him

 

when you think about it, its hard to imagine we paid 20 million for this guy,

 

look at it this way, how many £20 million transfers where there last year?

 

would it be 5 or 6 players perhaps?

 

now, out of them players that fetched £20 million or more, i can guarantee you everyone of them could get into a top 4 club, everyone of those players is a known player to everyone, their more than likely household names, yet for some reason, we spunked £20 million on a player that nobody really knows, and it seems, nobody wants,

 

what im saying is that 99% of players that fetch that kind of price are top marquee players, Aquilani was never that, and never will

 

the whole transfer is just puzzling

 

before somebody has a go at me

 

im not slagging off the player, but more so the transfer, and how we came to spend £20 million on a "relativly unknown player" (tongue in cheek there)

We didn't pay 20 million for him. Why do people continue to peddle this myth?

 

 

He wasn't free either. Something liker 16/17m basic rising to 18m on appearances/CL qualification.

We should be looking to sell him or keep him.

 

Preferably sell him for good money to an Italian club.

Keep him. As he's still the only lad in the squad who looks like he has a half decent chance of being able to run a football match and I doubt we're in the market for another one of them.

I think he's got psychological problems with his injuries. I've thought it for months. It just isn't black and white as to whether he's a good footballer or not, something isn't right up top and without that he's not going to make it here. I hope I'm wrong because he has something, but I just can't see him coming in and running matches.

Would you keep him just to sit around and become more irrelevant? Looks like he's behind Cole and Gerrard for the 7 position, and pretty much everyone for the midfield roles. I'm guessing we've been happy to listen to offers that have not come in and he needs to play to repair his reputation and maybe get us some wedge back.

Watching Poulsen and Lucas last night was like watching us last season except with less bite in the tackle. Our biggest weakness for me last season was central midfield and if Mascherano and Aquilani leave we'll somehow managed to have weakened ourselves there instead of strengthening

 

A month ago i had hopes for this season, for some reason. But they are fast disappearing

The 20 million EURO transfer fee is broken up into the following:

 

- 4 cash instalments of

- - 5 million EURO upfront

- - 3 million EURO by 4th January 2010

- - 7 million EURO by June 30th 2010

- - 5 million EURO by June 30th 2011.

 

Further Add ons include:

 

- 300,000 EURO for every year Liverpool qualify for the Champions League from 2010/11 to 2014/15

 

- 250,000 EURO everytime the player reaches 35 appearancs, 70 appearances, 105 appeances and then 140 appearances.

 

- 1 million EURO the first time Liverpool either wins the Premier League or Champions League by 30 June 2014.

 

- 5% of any future transfer fee will be paid to Roma.

To not give the ball away cheaply, to make a tackle, to make himself available for a pass - you know basic centre-mid stuff.

Ridiculous decision. When Aquliani has played in the hole he's looked effective, I know we have Gerrard and Cole to play there now but to send a player of his quality out on loan seems stupid to me. If he has to go then that's fair enough but lets at least try and get £10 million for him so that we can bring someone else in.

 

Seems we're just losing a top player and we'll have no money to replace him.

 

Let's be honest Cole and Gerrard haven't got the best record in recent seasons staying fit either.

Looks decent does't he? Stumbling start but always available and assured in possession, even if his range was slightly off.

Somebody who does this has been missed since Alonso left.
