surf Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 A sister thread to the other one. 1. Moores selling the club to G&H2. Aldridge to Sociedad. Why on earth did we do that?3. Xabi to Real
jimmylibel Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 If you're going to include Moores selling to G&H you might as well close the thread.
stressederic Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Beardsley to Everton Absolutely. That was insanity.
Leo No.8 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) Beardsley to Everton This, 100%. What did they pay us - something like £700,000? He was f*cking brilliant still when we sold him and was class for Everton for a good few years. Definitely something odd was going on there with him and Kenny, he kept being left out after playing really well too. Edited August 18, 2010 by Leo No.8
stressederic Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 He was still doing a decent job for Newcastle in the mid-90s as well.
Frosty Jack Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 3. Xabi to Real We got 40m after 5 years service, making 38m profit in the process. He's a good player to lose, but can't really be considered a bad sale, he just wasn't replaced.
ChrisC Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 We got 40m after 5 years service, making 38m profit in the process. He's a good player to lose, but can't really be considered a bad sale, he just wasn't replaced. £30m wasnt it?
JonShar Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 £30m wasnt it? And we paid 14 million didn't we? More like 15 million profit than 38.
Frosty Jack Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 And we paid 14 million didn't we? More like 15 million profit than 38. hahaha. don't know what the f*** happened there. yes sorry. about £16m profit.
Nerik Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Beardsley.......by far. If I had to name 5-6 major events that led to the downfall of Liverpool, his sale would be one of them.
Mike Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 the lfc chardonnay in the centenary suites. f*** me is it too much to ask to chill it to try and take the taste away?i say.
Falconhoof Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Its Beardsley, no question. This, 100%. What did they pay us - something like £700,000? He was f*cking brilliant still when we sold him and was class for Everton for a good few years. Definitely something odd was going on there with him and Kenny, he kept being left out after playing really well too. And he still barely has anything to do with the club. I know he's a newcastle legend but its like he never played for us or won the league here for the amount of times he's been back or involved. the lfc chardonnay in the centenary suites. f*** me is it too much to ask to chill it to try and take the taste away?i say. What is it with matchday food and drink ? Has nobody got any responsibility for it, having a bit of pride in their work. Its like they had a meeting and recruited the most gormless people to develop criminally bad levels of service for s*** product. I'm not being harsh am I ?
Benzo-13 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Staunton to Villa first time was daft.Still convinced Souness got him mixed up with Burrows.
Beardsley Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Beardsley to Everton Aye. Beyond stupid that was.
stressederic Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Aye. Beyond stupid that was. Well you didn't have to sign for them.
Swan Red Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 it's not in the league of some of the ones here but Sheedy went on to be a decent player for Everton as well also selling Hyppia and replacing him with the Greek was a bit daft and I'm still not sure why Clemence left when he did
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 nowhere NEAR in the league of the others on here, but selling Matteo to buy Ziege was a mistake
MikeK88 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Same as the other 'not in the same league' ones, but Owen to Real - purely for the price. £8m and a year later Real sell him for double that.
Tones Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Same as the other 'not in the same league' ones, but Owen to Real - purely for the price. £8m and a year later Real sell him for double that. Not really what you would call the worst sale. We didnt have any real choice in that one.
Gomez Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Not really what you would call the worst sale. We didnt have any real choice in that one. That's the problem with a lot of these though. Selling players who don't want to be here. How do you compare selling a good player who for one reason or another wants to leave, with selling a sh*t player who doesn't.
