Red Kent Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Text Person. Lets hope its 2 for 2...Team news v Turks?Reina kelly carra the greek aurelio maxi poulsen lucas jovanovic cole babel
Guest PaulMcC Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Babel up front? We're gonna lose a lot of possession when it's played up to him.
baz2107 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Decent team personally I'd have left Skrtel in and given Carra the night off, Carra was excellent at the weekend but as he's getting older I'd rather not see him playing twice every week, the Europa league is perfect chance to try other things without him will that be Babel or Jova through the middle? Will be interesting to see how long he gives Torres.
Bailo Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Radio 1 just said Masch/Agger out. Can see why both might be, wonder if Masch's injury is a bit of an excuse to avoid cup-tieing him.
Boca Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 It's the old 4-6-0 formation. Cunning plan by Roy.

Leo No.8 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 To be honest, if you look at that side which really looks pretty strong then consider we've changed 7 out of 10 outfield players from the Arsenal game, you'd say we've got better strength in depth this season than we've had possibly ever. Really think our squad is better than people are giving it credit for.
fred milne Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Reina kelly carra the greek aurelio maxi poulsen lucas jovanovic cole babelWould have preferred to see Pacecho instead of Jovanovic. Possibly Wilson instead of Krgyiagkos too, as that is one CB pairing lacking in pace and distribution.
Redwire Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Radio 1 just said Masch/Agger out. Can see why both might be, wonder if Masch's injury is a bit of an excuse to avoid cup-tieing him. Nah, he was struggling when he came off on Sunday.
johngibo YPC Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I reckon it will be Jovanovic up front, Babel wide left. To be honest the leaked teams are usually pretty accurate in terms of formation as well as team. And that seems to suggest Cole off babelI doubt think any of our players can moan about not being given a go this year. Flasher Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I like the idea of seeing Babel up front personally. I think if he is truely to make it as a top lpayer, that is the only position that he could do it in, be it with us or a championship side.
MFletcher Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 The squad isn't too bad at the moment, but we still need another left back (assuming Insua leaves) and a striker. I wouldn't object to another centre mid to replace Masch if/when he leaves either, but the former two positions are far more crucial to our success this season.
Leo No.8 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) generally maybe, but were stil abit short in a couple of areasIt has been helped by more young lads than before who look able to step up as well Another striker is the one really desperate need for me. A left back would be nice too but if Aurelio is fit there's nobody better available, and I'd like to see Kelly getting regular games some of which could be covering left back. Plus Agger does a very decent job there too. I think we can get by without another left back whereas Torres being injured for any significant period of time would really hurt us as it stands. But if we added both a striker and a left back, I honestly think we'll have a squad that could challenge. Lots of quality options there - we've been incredibly lucky to effectively add Maxi, Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Kelly and Pacheco to the squad without paying any transfer fees out. Is Aquilani dead? He's shat himself into an early grave. RIP Aquilani. Edited August 18, 2010 by Leo No.8
carrafan Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 He's shat himself into an early grave. What a warrior.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Aquilani injured / bed ridden ?In talks with some Italian team with any luck Or maybe he just doesn't fancy it
Joppo Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Would have expected Jova to be rested. Is Roy saving Aqua for Monday to play in Joes place?
