Ombudsam Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I want to see him play regularly behind Nando this season. He really started to come into it and the end of the season in the games I saw (not all of them). I think Cole may get that role though and I don't partuclarly want him to as I think Aquilani will potentially contribute more in the centre with Cole wide than playing two from Babel, Jovanovic, Kuyt and Rodriguez. I think Aquilani is the closest thing we have to someone who can potentially dictate a game. Obviously differently to Alonso as he likes going forward and playing behind the strikers and scoring and is a massive pussy.
Swipe Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Still don't have much hope for him unfortunately, despite his obvious talents.
Earl Hafler Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I'd like to see this for some games -------------------Lucas / Poulsen----------------Gerrard------------------------Maxi--------------------------Aqua---------------------------Cole------------------------------------------------Torres------------------------------------------- The interchanging between the three behind Torres, with Gerrard joining the attack. It'd smash the place up like a bit of Belgian techno
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I'd like to see this for some games -------------------Lucas / Poulsen----------------Gerrard------------------------Maxi--------------------------Aqua---------------------------Cole------------------------------------------------Torres------------------------------------------- The interchanging between the three behind Torres, with Gerrard joining the attack. It'd smash the place up like a bit of Belgian techno Yeah, I go along with that. Hodgson needs to cement the mentality of shifting the ball quickly even if its sideways. No player to hold on to it and continue moving. With quick balls to feet all those players have the ability to lose their marker when receiving the ball with a quick turn or quickly lay it off with one touch. Playing a medium to long ball game with them would be ridiculous and its for that reaosn that Hodgson needs to stamp his mark all over this team and chew the ball=ox out of anyone that plays the longer option more often than not, obviously the odd long ball is necessary but in the main, on the deck - get Hamann to hold a seminar !

It'd smash the place up like a bit of Belgian techno exactly, this should be formidable, i hope we get to see it

Red Kent Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Still don't have much hope for him unfortunately, despite his obvious talents. Can't get me head around this
Swipe Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Why? Hasn't done anything covincing and I don't know where he's gonna play.
_00_deathscar Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Can't get me head around this I think it's the English league misfit thing. I think he's fantastic in terms of technique and all, but something just seems to be missing. I hope it all clicks though, because he's truly a superb player.
RafaShanks Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Still don't have much hope for him unfortunately, despite his obvious talents. Based on what? Last season he looked out of sorts because of his injury lay off and Rafa not giving him much pitch time. I personally think he'll show us what he's made of this season.

As a few have said, hard to see where Alberto will play. I suppose he won't be a starter in the first 11; more likely he'll be back up to Cole as you suggest, Fred.

Do people really want Crouch back? I'd have Bellamy ahead of him personally, but that is maybe because - remarkable turnaround that this is given my opinion of him prior to signing for us - I can actually warm more to Bellamy as a person.

kop205 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 How have you come to that conclusion? About Bellamy the person or Bellamy the player? As a player, it is down to his pace and energy and sheer will to win. I think Crouch has been found out a bit now and looks like he is going through the motions in a hideously slow manner. As a person, I just liked Bellamy's attitude when he was here and the way he handled himself when he left. He runs a fantastic charitable foundation in Sierra Leone - a country I worked in for a while for an NGO and so is close to my heart - without making a big fuss about it. I think his days of being a c*** off the pitch seem to be behind him - I don't count hitting Riise with a golf club as being c*** because many of us would liked to have done it - and as I said before he has a great will to win. Crouch is the James Corden of football. Not without his talents, but absurdly lucky to have cashed in to the extent that he has and, once the initial self-deprecating charm wore off, has turned into a tiresome celebrity obsessed bellend.

Chili Palmer Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 same here, I can't warm to crouch, I'd have bellers back before him every time
Hassony Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 every time well maybe not every time, what if you needed help getting something off the top shelf?
Stevie H Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Crouch is the James Corden of football. f***ing hell that's an outrageous shout.
Chili Palmer Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 well maybe not every time, what if you needed help getting something off the top shelf? Bellers would kick the first person he saw in the balls and as they were bent double he would jump on their back. sorted. Its that kind of inventiveness that Crouch just doesn't have.

Bailo Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 The Crouch hate is based purely on the Pringles advert isn't it?
