Martin Skrtel in San Carlo on Castle Street (lovely by the way - our current favourite restaurant) on the table next to us.

Positive for Martin - he was dining on his own with three attractive young women (who were all admiring my little girl who is nearly 2, causing one hell of a mess and was loving the attention - she really played up to them in a big way).

Negative for Martin - his card declined numerous times, are we paying him in magic beans? Eventually managed to find one that worked after loads of to-ing and fro-ing with the staff, on the phone etc. I suggested next time he try fyds' warmed up malaysian curry house...

We went to San Carlo a couple of weeks ago, on a Sunday early evening, and the place was doing a very good trade. Daniel Agger came in with a group to sit in a booth - including a child wearing a Denmark shirt. We then saw Arteta and Cahill sitting together in another booth on our way out.

Obviously the latest hot hang-out in town....

Seen Pepe Reina and Dirk Kuyt in there on seperate occasions. The waiter we were talking to reckons most of the Liverpool players go in there and also claimed he had driven Dossena's wife's mini cooper to Italy for then after he moved back there.

Used to go to the ones in Birmingham and Leicester and think they are great restaurants.

Does it have to be current?

I had a private dinner with Ian rush and 4 mates last year. One of the best nights of my life.

Is there still an Est Est Est at Liverpool Docks? I remember bumping into Redknapp who had just dined there back in 1999.

Yeah he was always in there. Boring b*****d.

Similarly, Vegard Heggem was practically the Maître d' at Blue Bar.

The one in Birmingham off colmore row has loads of pics of footy players in it's window (Inc placcy, and the boy wonder). Obviously a popular place for footy players but the one in brum has been shut a couple of times in the past by the courts due to mice infestation and general poor hygiene practices.

Actually it was right up there with the extended lunch I had with Freddie Flintoff at the Lone Star in Barbados.
