LFCCanada Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 The BBC is reporting that Hodgson has come out and said this. Nothing much else to add - the article is pretty short...http://news.bbc.co.u...ool/8859685.stm
Barnesy_10 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6281923,00.html not exactly surprised.. would be gutted to see him leave
Montse Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Liked Roys handling of that - it was along the lines is 'he has asked to leave, but hes still ours until we say so'
Leo No.8 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) He can f*ck off. Wanted out when we'd just missed out on the title and sulked for the first few months of the season which didn't help anything. What gets me isn't so much that he wants to go but the way he said all that stuff about 'Liverpool know I want to sign a new contract' a couple of months ago, which makes him an odious little liar. £30m though or he can rot. One of a select few ex Liverpool players I'd boo if he came back to Anfield. Not big on booing but he's only been here 3 years and he's spent 2 wanting to leave - what sort of way is that to treat a club like Liverpool when you're a first team regular? Pr*ck - we'll be better off with the money from his sale. Blaming it on his wife is a sh*thouse trick as well. Edited July 27, 2010 by Leo No.8
Molby Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 this is the time for Hodgson to step up - and there can be no grey area Masch: " I want to leave, boss" RH: " as long as I get every penny at my disposal from the sale immediately then you can leave" Masch: "but...." RH: " you heard me, and you're lucky to even get that you whiny f*****; now go and speak to Purslow - the sooner he comes back with the required assurances, including publication of both the agreement and the figures in the media, the sooner we can get you sold"
Red_Rob Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/0727/mascherano.html Masherano, blah blah blah.................... Recent speculation suggested Torres was keen to play Champions League football this season and was considering his options. Hodgson said that was not the message the club had received from the Spain striker. 'As far as I know he is looking forward to coming back here; he is back on Monday,' said the Englishman. 'He is enjoying a holiday - a well-deserved break as he has not had one for three years. 'He is spending a lot of time with his family, keeping a low profile and as far as I know he is not really speaking to anyone. 'But he has told us that he is looking forward to Monday, looking forward to getting back to work and looking forward to playing for Liverpool next season. 'That is what I know so other reports, I would suggest, are erroneous.'
The Hitman Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Don't care about Masch anymore,he's been gone for ages.Good riddance,IMO.

BG Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Sad to see Masch go personally. Prepared to take it at face value that he/his family can't settle for whatever reason. That happens. Was terrific for us.

carrafan Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Sad to see Masch go personally. Prepared to take it at face value that he/his family can't settle for whatever reason. That happens. Was terrific for us. Yep. Probably had a deal with Rafa to be allowed to leave this season as we'd have found it even tougher to replace both Alonso and Masch last season. Now lets squeeze any club that shows interest in him for all they've got, Masch is the best defensive midfielder in the world.
yellow jumper Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 What gets me isn't so much that he wants to go but the way he said all that stuff about 'Liverpool know I want to sign a new contract' a couple of months ago, which makes him an odious little liar. maybe we should have offered him one.
Leo No.8 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 maybe we should have offered him one. Like we didn't want him to stay, come on.
Hassony Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Like we didn't want him to stay, come on. Maybe Roy doesn't rate him The club have to sell one big name player, they are happy to see Masch go
yellow jumper Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Like we didn't want him to stay, come on. the previous manager certainly did. the vidic situation at united was similar. wife reportedly unhappy in manchester, player interested in playing in spain. interest from barca and madrid. how have they dealt with it?
Chili Palmer Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 The way I see it is we have four world class players, Pep, Gerrrard, Torres and Masch. Out of those four I can live with losing Masch the easiest. (not that I want to lose any but if needs must, and they do.)
Hassony Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Out of those four I can live with losing Masch the easiest. (not that I want to lose any but if needs must, and they do.) I bet the club see it the same way

I agree with the sentiment - but I would prefer if we played very hard ball on this issue.
Epic Swindle Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Like we didn't want him to stay, come on. It wouldn't surprise me if Rafa marked his card about leaving.
Raj Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 It wouldn't surprise me if Rafa marked his card about leaving. did you not read the bit where Roy said that he wanted to leave last year?
Molby Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 RH has to play hardball, either with Masch or with the club , in terms of getting the proceeds if he doesn't then he is, by dint of his deeds, the yes man that some feared he would be
Cheesecake Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 the vidic situation at united was similar. wife reportedly unhappy in manchester, player interested in playing in spain. interest from barca and madrid. how have they dealt with it? or Fabregas and Arsenal/Barcelona
Boca Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 It wouldn't surprise me if Rafa marked his card about leaving. You never miss a chance to stick the boot in. It's tedious.
