dorgie Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Nice few words to be fair to him, especially the look to the future bit. lfc.tv Quote Shortly after completing his move from Liverpool to Greek outfit Olympiacos, Albert Riera penned this letter to all Liverpool fans. Dear Liverpool supporters, I would like to say goodbye and thank you for the opportunity to play in this fantastic club. I would like to thank the fans for their support; you're unbelievable. I would also like to thank the staff and my team mates. I would like to wish the club all the best for the new season, I can see there's a lot of changes taking place and its like a breath of fresh air into the club. I think the club will have a very positive future. I want the fans to remember me as a player who tried to give his best. My first year here was one of the best seasons and the closest the club have come to winning the Premier League. Last season was a season for everyone to forget in all ways, which can happen to any club. In football it's important to look forward and forget the past. I felt it was time for a change and I'm looking forward now to the new challenges which lie ahead. Best wishesAlbert Riera
Rory Fitzgerald Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Albert, the only thing I will remember you for is seeing the No.11 go up religiously on 64mins.
yellow jumper Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 his candle burned out long before his legend ever did.
Boca Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Let's recap - Decent first seasonPunch up with a youth playerSinking ship comment f*** off eh Albert there's a good lad.
Chili Palmer Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I have to admit, I will always remember him as a player that give his best. not really like...
Nerik Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Words are cheap Albert. You should have shown more commitment when the chips were down and not call the club a sinking ship.
McBain Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Changes nothing in my eyes. He was dreadful for us and deservedly shipped out. Half his fault and half Rafa's And the way that's worded makes it seem a thinly veiled attack on our ex
sutty Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 1st season decent 2nd season disruptive k****ead As his letter says
Fagan Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I say fair play to him. he was obviously very frustrated with rafa not giving him a run last season. The sinking ship comment was out of order, not because it wasn't necessarily true at the time but its totally inappropriate for a player on the books to say things like that. But if you forgive him for that, the departing message was a nice touch

smithdown Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Tried his best? He must think he is sh*t as well. He's a bottler him good style.
Falconhoof Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I'm not arsed, once they are out the door and no longer wearing our shirt then they mean nothing to me. Can't wait to see Cole and Jovanovich play.
BG Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 When I saw the thread title there I was hoping, even though I knew it was incredibly unlikely, that this was a message from the 'Albert' who seemed to kn ow the ins and outs of the Gerrard going/staying thing a few years ago and that he was about to tell us something interesting abut the future of the club...rather than Riera's goodbye

Maldini Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 If he'd left 12 months ago I'd have bid him a fond farewell but he was a disgrace to himself last year.

Certainly remember Garcia writing one, and Alonso as well. Wonder if they do it with other clubs they have left as well.
Hus Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Good first season imo, added width and was a genuine threat most of the time...however then came the "incident" and the "sinking ship" remark. The acronym FRO seems about right imo.
