Any advice on daytrips in North West of Ireland?

I'm heading off tomorrow to stay in a friend's summer house in Magilligan for a week. Even though I live in NI I haven't been up that neck of the woods very often and am looking for ideas for fun family days out eg, country parks, open farms, beaches, museums etc.

 

Magilligan will be our base but I imagine Londonderry and Donegal (with the ferry in use) will be the main areas for trips. I have 2 wee'uns of 3 years and 3 months so can any of you recommend some places of interest where we could go with a barbie or picnic and spend the whole day?
