Maldini Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I assume this is Mike Parry? Pretty amazing lack of football knowledge for someone paid to talk about the sport! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5tEL5QJziE
stressederic Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Not heard of Yaya Toure before the World Cup? Oh dear.
Superjay Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Never heard of Yaya Toure? Never heard of David Silva? Shirley he was on a wind up to get exactly that sort of reaction. Who was the journo?
Hassony Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 The idiot who didn't know toure or Silva wasn't Parry This is the same station that employs idiots like Gough who thinks Arshavin and Rooney are better than Messi
RP Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Listening to that just reminds me why I never listen to that sh*te - radio equivalent of The S*n.
Cobs Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Listening to that just reminds me why I never listen to that sh*te - radio equivalent of The S*n. No - it's tabloid radio alright references to the S*n, when it's frequented by countless Reds and ex-Reds are quite unnecessary however
RP Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 No - it's tabloid radio alright references to the S*n, when it's frequented by countless Reds and ex-Reds are quite unnecessary however Thanks for putting me straight.
Cobs Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Thanks for putting me straight. every now and then it needs to be done otherwise you end up tarnishing the likes of Dalglish, Rush, Barnes, Molby, Beardsley, Aldridge etc etc etc with the S*n brush
RP Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I'm not dead keen on Radio 5 either - can you let me know the accepted line there as well please? Don't want to operate outside of policy.
Cobs Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 i'd suggest not accusing them of being equivalent to the S*n
floyd Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 As Talkshyte was set up by that tw4t MacKenzie, the references to that shytehouse rag are apt.
Stevie H Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 i don't really know why a football fan would listen to talksport. by lowest common denominator morons for lowest common denominator morons.
Atticus Finch Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 It is the radio equivalent of The Sun. No - it's tabloid radio alright references to the S*n, when it's frequented by countless Reds and ex-Reds are quite unnecessary however
Cam Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I was looking for a metaphor or simile to describe TalkSport... does anyone know of one?
Davvo Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 i don't really know why a football fan would listen to talksport. by lowest common denominator morons for lowest common denominator morons. To be fair, for a good portion of football fans, your second sentence pretty much answers the first. Think I've listened to that for about 2 minutes once, never again.
Falconhoof Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 It is like the Sun on radio The fact that ex reds go on there doesn't mean anyone is saying they are doing anything to do with the Sun. Its a vile leery station, set up by McKenzie and deliberately attempts to stir up controversy and appeal to the lowest common denominator. Its like the sun, of course it is.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Double champions league winner ? Thought he only won one ?
George Costanza Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Double champions league winner ? Thought he only won one ? He has. City fan in being wrong shocker. He does have a point in his rant though. Any journalist worth his salt should be well aware & be knowledgeable about other foreign leagues and players. I'd expect the local sports journalsit at the Blackpool Gazzette to know who Toure and Silva are prior to this years WC. Its just plain ignorance but i'm not suprised about it with British Journo's. Lack of knowledge and genuine insight into the game is shocking. The TV pundits showed the same during the WC too.

George Costanza Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 some seemed surprised that forlan looked actually pretty good Its almost condescending. Forlan has been one of the best 5 strikers in world football over the past 5 years, even if you don't watch a lot of Spanish football (which any self respecting journo should do - same applies to all European major leagues) his record on paper & a 30 second google will tell you all you need to know about this player. It almost came as a suprise to many Journalists his performance against us & Fulham in the Europa league last season. Rory - it should be employment suicide. He should be sacked on the spot for negligence

It'd be understandable if the players in question were two nobodies from Malaga, for instance, but when you're looking at starting eleven players at Barcelona and Valencia...
