Gravy Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 First of all i want to say I love Rafa - didn't want him to go, think it's a massive mistake and he is the best manager in the world etc etc. Now I do remember when he joind us in 2004 when he promised Valencia and their fans that he had too much respect for them than to go back and try and take with him their top first team players a la Roy Hodgson. Now, IF Mascherano does go to to Inter, what happened to that level of res[ect?? Won't be too happy with him if Mascherano leave fort Inter for tghose reasons more than anything - he will be pillaging our third best outfield player
Hassony Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 He should sell us Eto, Cambiasso and Snjider for 2m plus Lucas and Ngog, that's the only way for him to keep our respect:rolleyes: and as I said before, i think the club are happy for Masch to go because of his contract situation
Philby Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 It's clear that Masch has been unsettled to various degrees over the past 18 months. With no CL football and the club in a bit of a pickle financially he's always going to be a prime candidate for an exit. It's also clear that he's the one "big" name that fans could stomach leaving if a sacrifice has to be made to generate some funds for bodywork elsewhere in the squad. If Rafa's Inter want him and are willing to pay the going rate (£25m+) then I wouldn't bear Rafa any ill will. Personally I think targetting Torres or trying to hijack the Jovanovic deal would've been a far more offence.
ChrisC Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Only on a two year deal, dont think they have that much faith in him.

If Inter offer us the most money for him then he can go there, but we should also remember that Rafa valued him at 50m a year ago, so that is what we should expect to get...although we wont.

Rafa valued him at 50m maybe Purslow values him at 25m anyhow, Rafa owes us nothing, he is employed by Inter now and needs to do whats best for them
Redray Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Rafa is not responsible for transfers at Inter. He has made it clear he is only the coach.
honourablegeorge Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I saw Rafa on TV last night, on the inter training pitch, in shorts & jersey He was well fat.
CarraLegend Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Only on a two year deal, dont think they have that much faith in him. 2 and 3 year deals out there are normal. They're not like this country where a s*** team will give Phil Brown a 200 year contract.
Dominus Maximus Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 He'll be back when we get new owners. That I'm sure of.
Falconhoof Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 The next owners might rate another manager more. The thing is, that he's in another job now and he needs to do his best for that club. If he thinks he can get Mascherano at a good price then good luck to him. Its up to our club to either persuade Mascherano to have another season here or to get the best fee they can.

My point is he gave his word to the Valencia fans that he wouldn't poach players from the first team - we could do with that sort of loyalty with Mascherano couldn't we ? Both from manatger and more importnaly player I guess - but if Rafa isn't in for him then he can't go there!
Bootle Buck Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I'd say Mascher and or his agent are probably instigating the move more than Rafa. Let's face it they are Champions of Europe and he has plenty of his fellow countrymen there. If he really wants out I would rather he leave sooner rather than later. Hopefully we can buy a replacement before the season begins.
Jambo Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 this needed a new thread I'm not on here much recently, but from a relative outsiders perspective this whole sarky 'needed a new thread' forum police thing is so utterly tedious. It's so boring coming on here once a week and seeing the same old 200 page threads, earnestly policed by dreary self-righteous dullards - makes the whole forum seem stale and stagnant. Let people start new threads and let's see a bit of life back in the old place.

Hopefully we can buy a replacement before the season begins. Id say £25-30M or more and he can go, there are three first teamers already who can play that position if need be in Lucas, Aquilani and Gerrard. Money could be spent on a decent replacement for that position plus another.

ChrisC Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I don't think Aquilani nor Gerrard can do it tbh. Think Gerrard could but we'd miss him going forward too much, especially now Yossi has gone and the others (bar Torres) just arent up to it attacking-wise. Ive got high hopes for Aquilani this year, think he'll convince a few of the doubters on here. Would love to see Pacheco given a run of games behind Torres if Gerrard does end up playing midfield at all this year.
Hassony Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Think Gerrard could but we'd miss him going forward too much, especially now Yossi has gone and the others (bar Torres) just arent up to it attacking-wise. Maxi, Jova and Kuyt aren't up to it?

ChrisC Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Maxi, Jova and Kuyt aren't up to it? Cant say Ive watched enough of Jova, but as far as Kuyt and Maxi go attacking-wise, compared to what other teams competing for titles have in this league and in Europe, they arent up to it. Kuyts a grafter, not a playmaker, and Maxi well, think hes a very tidy and intelligent player but we've been crying out for a pacy, decent winger for years now and neither fit the bill for me.
barnesology Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) Cheers Masch, thanks for playing well foe us, only once completely losing it at Utd and being part of the team that went back and tore furgoid a new 4 goal hole. Have a good one in Italy. I know Inter's something of a special club for Argies, it's almost Edited July 14, 2010 by barnesology
