Congrats Spain, but how bad is Nando's injury?

Best moment of the W.Cup?, ask me tomorrow.

Worst moment?

Watching our beloved No.9 fall to the ground and cover his face with his hand in a way that only means bad news.

He was clearly smiling at the end with the trophy in hand, but how many weeks potentially could he miss?. He wasn't faking it, the way he pulled up, to me the hamstring looks torn again :(

Given that we're the only Prem club that spends 20M+ on an injured player!, is this not a blessing, in a 99.99999999% perfect disguise?.

Hopefully now any transfer rumours can be put to bed and Torres can be given a huge rest to come back when ready, though a lot still depends on those c**** f***ing off and dying

From a selfish perspective I'm delighted he's injured. Try and pass a medical now - you aint going nowhere sunshine!!!

In all seriousness get well soon lad. (and don't leave)

Rafa signed a crock , so did Houllier (Henchoz), so this injury wouldn't stop any transfer.

Yeah it's great. If he stays because he's injured it'll take him half the season to mend and get some fitness back and if he goes we'll get less from whoever takes a chance on him. It's a real win-win for us.

Read somewhere that it's his groin again, not a hamstring.

In fairness anyone who is interested in signing him will probably still be in for him because a) it'll only be a few weeks off I expect and b) they know that he's f***ing injured 90% of the time anyway

the way he pulled up it looked to me like it wasn't a hamstring, I don't know why cause I'm no expert at all, but it just didn't look like the reaction you get from players who suddenly get a hamstring injury.

Looked textbook hammy to me TBH.

And me. 6 weeks off I guess , hopefully he will be back for game 2 or 3.

We do have the new medical team, so let's hope he can work his Aussie wonders on him. I would think the injury will scupper his holiday plans, as LFC will want him diagnosed ASAP.

Maybe RH can talk to him whilst the medics are testing the injury, one wrong or negative word from FT and the medics will cause him more pain!!

I initially thought hamstring but he didn't grab at it like they tend to which made me worried it might be his knee. I think it was the Daily Mail who said groin so it's probably b******s.

My reaction when they showed the replay face on was that it was not a hamstring, could well be wrong but it didnt seem to occur at the right point in the stride and there was not the usual clutch the back of the leg reaction common place with that muscle being pulled...

plus if it was a hamstring then movement afterwards would have been extremely restricted whereas a groin can be less obviously debiliating in terms of normal walking etc.. hence his partaking in the celebrations to the extent that he did

Ballague reckons it's his groin. He needs a good couple of months of rest regardless of where he's playing next season.

In that case, we can rule out a groin injury

so it's either Hammy or Knee

i thought it was his knee....which is bad.

If it isn't his hamstring, it occured running in a straight line which does not bode well re knee and to an extent a groin injury as well

Looked more like his groin to me. When players do their hamstring, their reaction is to straighten the leg and hold the back of their thigh. Torres kept his leg in the same position.

His hand went to his groin area when he felt the injury not the back of his leg.

I can't seem to paste it but there is a picture here of him after the injury. It's definitely the groin.

Is this that hernia that he never had surgery on and we gave him a 3 week rest and he came back struggling ?

He delayed the op so he wouldn't miss the world cup.

Interesting it's Babel and Kuyt standing behind him.

I take it thatat this point Babel, Riera, Skrtel and scertain others will be staying.

It does look like the groin on reflection.

The bottom line is no club is gonna punt 50M+ on a player in his condition. Although it is not the severity of the injury that will be a deal breaker, just the regularity of such issues that keep him sidelined.

Just hope he's back to near his best by Sept. 19th!!.

The particularly thin silver lining is it does bolster RH's desire to get a quality striker in and gives the strikers we have a good chance to shine in Nando's absence.

The bold part didn't exactly turn out to be a silver lining last season.
