GINOLA THREATENS HOULLIER LEGAL ACTION

Posted 23/06/10 09:42

David Ginola has threatened to sue Gerard Houllier after the former France manager once again blamed him for Les Bleus' failure to qualify for the 1994 World Cup.

Ginola became the scapegoat after a cross in the last qualifying match against Bulgaria was too long and their opponents broke to score a shock winner.

Houllier, who was France coach at the time, placed the blame squarely at Ginola's feet and has reiterated that several times, including in a television show broadcast at the beginning of this month.

And the former Tottenham winger has had enough.

"In 2010, 17 years after, when I see the same person go on television and talk about this event where they treated me like a criminal for too long a cross, I'm sorry, I find this over the top," Ginola told L'Equipe.

"It's enough! Until my death they are going to talk to me about this!

"If at the time Gerard Houllier hadn't said these type of things, they wouldn't talk to me about this now.

"It affects my personal life, my children, it affects a lot of things, it's intolerable.

"Now, it's enough. I'm so sick of it...I have decided to press charges."

Apaprently it's for remarks Houllier made on French TV a few weeks back.

didn't he call him a criminal at the time ? How much worse is it now?

all sounds like fair comment anyway

Ginola f***ed up massively, does he tell his kids that part? I'm sure the life he has provided with his earnings a footballer offer some comfort during these extremely dark moments they must suffer.

What charge can be brought for having an opinion that can't be disproved?

Maybe he should have gone the corner with the ball

Maybe Barnesy should have in 89

There is no need for GH to go on about that one incident as much

he said what he did, overhitting a cross was criminal. didn't call him a criminal. and it f***ing was as well. deliberate to make cantona look a c***. doesn't excuse the lack of defending on the counter attack though.

If he was asked about it then fair enough, the pair of them should get over it really.

And don't go bringing up Barnesy not going for the corner again please, I've not long stopped occasionally crying myself to sleep about it.:(

Sorry!

I'm just saying if Kenny was still banging on about it we would think it was abit out of order

You've done loads of stuff since then ged, don't worry abar it

He's right though, GH needs to let it go.

Just what I was going to say. It's very Mourinho-esque to bring it up time and time again.

It's also very Neil Warnock like to blame him for conceding a goal.

Yep it's pretty poor from GH to have fixed the blame on one player like that (it's hardly like he gave it away doing a drag back in his own six yard box either) and certainly to be still going on about it 15 years later.

bloody French can't let anything slide.

they are still pissed at the Brits and Yanks for liberation and introducing them to deodorant, miserable c****.

If Ginola is a crim, what does that make the "team" that turned out for their last three matches?

Not a good climate for Des Lynam's favourite w*nk to press charges in you'd think.
