I can only think that the yellow card for profanity in that warm up game gave him food for thought and that it is such a part of his game that he can't play and NOT swear simultaneously.

I certainly think there's some truth in the idea that having to actually play within the rules of the game is hampering him

yup, said the same to my mate last night...

He knows full well that every team in that comp see that as his weakness due to that ref coming out about his swearing and how he should be careful in the actual World Cup.....

He got battered a couple of times last night and I was sat waiting for the red mist, but it never came.

Probably f***ed off that the team just hoof it to a crap lad upfront who then controls the ball 20 yards, does a slide tackle and the opposition have the ball or a free kick.

He looks unfit to me.

And as Carralegend said, he's probably getting f***ed off with having to play with Heskey rather than Gerrard.

Although, Heskeys attempt at a dummy last night was a highlight for me.

david james was acting a bit of t** afterwards, but when asked if he was feeling any pressure it was interesting to hear him say "no, but then i wasn't asked to do any adverts."

ITV pundits last night were talking about the pressure they were all under. My wee rant at the telly included the words Lucozade, Pringles,Pepsi & Nike. They live very well off the income, and don't seem to appreciate that the raised profile also raises the expectation...

But then being a celeb is all it's about, seemingly

And that stupid Football Skills live event at the O2 arena that Gerrard's gonna be at.

James talked of a fear and pressure in the camp... how can it be more pressured than the Premiership or Champion's League. Admittedly. the dropping of Green after one mistake would add some nervousness to their play but they get paid £100k a week for three reasons - 1) because they bring the money into the game, 2) to handle the PR responsibilities and act as role models, 3) to handle the scrutiny & pressure.

As for Rooney... he's not been fit for months and the Mancs rushing him back at every opportunity didn't help (didn't help them either). Also, he's not playing in his preferred position, in his preferred formation or with his preferred partner. But I think the behaviour demands put on him (by the refs but also by the country) are weighing him down. How often have we said our (LFC) players have been weighed down by the 'niceities' that are expected by many?

because it's a bigger event than either of them

The White Pele hasn't scored a goal in six World Cup matches. Does that make the fat fvckin pasty faced tw4t, the White Serginho?

Edit - even Serginho scored two in 1982

Crouch should be playing. He should be England's plan A. Build everything around Crouch.

It's weird that he doesn't play considering his excellent scoring record for england
