At our recent EGM it was raised, discussed and voted upon by members with an overwhelming majority, to boycott the Auto Cup Scheme as part of the season ticket renewals. We would urge all members to take part in this action. Further details on why this is being urged can be found at http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/Boycott-the-Auto-Cup-Scheme.html

Done. Form ripped up and put in the bin - not easy but necessary, especially if there is going to a boycott of a cup game.

I don't see the point of not signing up to the scheme and then going to all of the games. The auto-cup scheme made life easy for the supporter because it saved all those hours on the phone waiting to get through to the ticket office. If the club know that everyone is going to turn up anyway then the only cost to them in not signing up to the scheme will be on extra telephone support - and they may not bother with that. There needs to be a boycott of the games as well

if you sign up for the scheme you are pretty much guaranteed to pay for the tickets regardless of how we perform, players we sell, quaility of manager we appoint. although there are ways to get out of the scheme general inertia means that once people sign up for the season the club can pretty much count on our money and can take it whenever they want - potentially weeks before the game.

if there is uncertainty about attendance levels then the club is required to think a bit more about ticket prices and it is easier to move towards some kind of action later in the season when some momentum has been built. it would also allow for some kind of targetted action - i.e boycott a particular stand for a specific game. if there was awareness then we could build up to a proper boycott but at the moment there is so much apathy/ignorance in our fan base that i'm not sure what it would take to motivate them. perhaps selling our entire first team and starting the season with reserves and Voronin as manager?

Generally people will not jeopardise season tickets - there is no point, there will always be someone else who will take it over so all individuals giving up season tickets would achieve is the individual fans losing out. the only way to have an empty stadium would be to persude people to pay but then not attend - but the parasite owners still get the cash. i'm not sure what the answer is but this seems like a sensible small step that could open up possible action later in the season.

Can see where your coming from but i wont be boycotting

Easier to get a Final ticket that way, IF we get there

Well as long as you're OK then...

Boycotts will not force the Yanks out any quicker

Do you think the players want to play infront of a half empty stadium?

But every over-priced ticket puts money in the Yanks pockets.

I think as long as people back up the boycott of the auto-ticket scheme with a boycott of matches then people (within the club and the media) may sit up and take notice. But if everyone turns up anyway and the club know it's going to happen, then I can't see it being effective.

As for the players, I think what they want to see is owners who are investing in the club. If this helps force the issue then I'm sure the boycott will have their support

They will certainly help

Its up to you if you don't want to do it, but i can't see how you can argue they won't have an effect

What it will do is give the c**** an excuse to sell a player in January to cover losses due to boycotts of the cup games.

I can see it now, Purslow in a press conference confirming the sale of Daniel Agger to Inter Milan to cover the huge gate loss in this seasons cup competitions.

what's the point of boycotting the ACS but then buying a ticket anyway?

There's a clear explanation as to the thinking behind this at the link in the 1st post.

if it stops the yanks raising ticket prices it's a result, it seems somewhat half hearted to me though

Well I've finally renewed and I've boycotted the scheme. I'm also going to boycott the cup games because I can't stand the thought of putting a penny more than I have to into the pockets of those two liars and thieves. If it hampers our progress in those competitions, so be it because it's so much more important to see the back of them than to enjoy a hollow victory in a cup final (where no doubt they and their cronies would be in the prime seats and most of us would be ticketless despite attending all the home games). The league is a different matter because we need to support the team, not just for this season but also to maintain our Premisership status for the next.

I have to say it's been done with a heavy heart and it's going to be so strange listening to home games on the radio or watching on TV

I've not ticked the auto cup boxes, the b******s were taking money far too early last season. Once when they had a panic for the last group game of the CL and once for the first Europa Cup game, to stop people cancelling.

They can stick it all this season.
