We could make a tidy sum on Mascherano with Inter having champs league money in their pocket, or if Arsenal price Cesc out of a move back to Camp Nou, Barca might have money to play ball.

 

For my money we need a class striker, a left back and the ball winning, culured passing central midfielder we saw in Xabi and wished Lucas had've turned out to be. Be off to Spain la!.

 

Fingers crossed Jokanović can be persuaded to join us and not Inter, but that looks like a potential 'one that got away' scenario to me.

 

Let's see what Citeh & Chelski don't want in late August and with the absence of Champs league I'm sure we'll clear up

 

Our biggest concern is keeping the better players we have.

 

Keep and add 3 quality players to this (if we mean business, albeit on a budget)

didn't makelele cost about £24m? lass diarra was around £20m.

 

£35m for the pair sounds pretty realistic. reckon inter's new manager might also be quite well-informed about exactly how much would be enough to twist liverpool's arm.

Rafa said a £40m bid would be rejected last year.

 

I'm torn between wanting to sell for as much as possible as a good price usually dulls the pain of losing a good player know you can get another one in, and wanting to sell for a lower price because in reality none of it is going on a new player, but to servicing the debt so the more money means the longer G&H can hold on.

 

Assuming we can't convince him to stay that is.

I wouldn't have thought that was massively out. Despite the s*** the lad took last season he did score goals playing as a lone striker in a team lacking confidence and would do a job at a mid table team.

I really don't understand why people want to sell our young players. Players like Ngog and Lucas are young and full of potential and should stay. Their salary is low and they know the club and have been through the ranks so to say. Why sell them? Lucas is only 23 but already has 4 caps for Brazil and 80 games for Liverpool. He may not be Alonso, but he is a good little player. And Ngog is still so young. Madness to sell them now.

At the moment I'd be loathe to sell any of our players. There's no guarantee that the new manager would get any of the money to spend so it would probably be better off keeping the player for the time being.

 

There are exceptions of course. Riera crossed the line and should be sold. And I really liked Riera as well before he became a complete pillock.
