barnesology Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 We could make a tidy sum on Mascherano with Inter having champs league money in their pocket, or if Arsenal price Cesc out of a move back to Camp Nou, Barca might have money to play ball. For my money we need a class striker, a left back and the ball winning, culured passing central midfielder we saw in Xabi and wished Lucas had've turned out to be. Be off to Spain la!. Fingers crossed Jokanović can be persuaded to join us and not Inter, but that looks like a potential 'one that got away' scenario to me. Let's see what Citeh & Chelski don't want in late August and with the absence of Champs league I'm sure we'll clear up Our biggest concern is keeping the better players we have. Keep and add 3 quality players to this (if we mean business, albeit on a budget) 25. Reina 2. Johnson 4. Aquilani 5. Agger 8. Gerrard 9. Torres 15. Benayoun 17. Rodriguez 23. Carragher 18. Kuyt 37. Skrtel 22. Insua 16. Kyrgiakos46. Amoo 40. Ayala 47. Pacheco39. Eccleston 0?. Jonjo ShevleyDalla Valle Sell, based on a (fingers crossed!) good world cup 19. Babel - 10-1220. Mascherano - 35m1. Cavalieri - 3.521. Lucas - 811. Riera - 724. Ngog - 3.527. Degen - ? lol42. Gulacsi - magic bean30. Itandje - bus pass loan out 29. Nemeth28. Plessis31. El Zhar 26. Spearing 32. Darby 34. Kelly 48. Bruna 36. Irwin Reserves. Mavinga 41. Hansen 43. Bouzanis49. Robinson - - Duran - Kacaniklic - Kohlert - Mendy - Palsson - Poloskei - Saric - Simon - Weijl
Redkop Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Inter Milan allegedly making a combined bid of £33m for Masch and Dirk, so your pricing of Masch is miles out. Guess which paper LOL DAILY MAIL Wonder what value our ex. manager would have put on them if he was selling....

Falconhoof Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) I don't see Mascherano going for more than Alonso. Whats the world record fee for a defensive midfielder ? So the combined £35m for Masch and Kuyt sounds not too far away to their value. Edited June 10, 2010 by Tony Le Mesmer

I'm torn between wanting to sell for as much as possible as a good price usually dulls the pain of losing a good player know you can get another one in, and wanting to sell for a lower price because in reality none of it is going on a new player, but to servicing the debt so the more money means the longer G&H can hold on. Assuming we can't convince him to stay that is.
richwilks Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 3.5 million for ngog I wouldn't have thought that was massively out. Despite the s*** the lad took last season he did score goals playing as a lone striker in a team lacking confidence and would do a job at a mid table team.
Dominus Maximus Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I really don't understand why people want to sell our young players. Players like Ngog and Lucas are young and full of potential and should stay. Their salary is low and they know the club and have been through the ranks so to say. Why sell them? Lucas is only 23 but already has 4 caps for Brazil and 80 games for Liverpool. He may not be Alonso, but he is a good little player. And Ngog is still so young. Madness to sell them now.
Tobes Rafa Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I agree Jallow. Who's to say Lucas can't still fulfil his potential if played in a more advanced role. Anyone tell me how Nemeth has been getting on at Gala? Is he ready to come back and be part fo the first team squad (and hopefully bring Turan with him in his suitcase)?
johngibo YPC Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 3.5 million for ngog Championship strikers have gone for 5 or 6
Hassony Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Anyone tell me how Nemeth has been getting on at Gala? Gala are unhappy with him apparently, as he never turns up to training or matches for them on the other hand, AEK are delighted with him he is staying with AEK for another season Edited June 10, 2010 by Hassony

Metro Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 It doesn't matter how much Kuyt and Mascher go for, we know, don't we, that LFC won't see the money? Ergo, don't sell 'em and keep them to their contract.
Redkop Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Still slating him and he isn't even here. I love the roll eyes smilie, it's so apt at times!
stressederic Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 At the moment I'd be loathe to sell any of our players. There's no guarantee that the new manager would get any of the money to spend so it would probably be better off keeping the player for the time being. There are exceptions of course. Riera crossed the line and should be sold. And I really liked Riera as well before he became a complete pillock.
