HeWonItFromBrock Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Over on RAWK there has been an idea to Boycott cup games next season as part of the strategy to drive out H&G. This starts with the first Europa game which would send out a strong message nice and early - we can then take it game by game from there. It hits them in the pocket and generates awful press for them and could help force through a quicker sale at a more realistic price. What is the feeling here about such a Boycott?
Sion Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 It should have happened against Fiorentina. That was the perfect chance.

Been advocating it for a while.Cup games, merchandise and RBS. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work but personally I'd feel sick to the stomach to give G&H another penny of my money.
HeWonItFromBrock Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Added a poll to see if there's an appetite for cup boycott Edited June 6, 2010 by HeWonItFromBrock
Billy Dane Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I'm happy to boycott all cup games next season to make a point. Wouldn't have considered it prior to last season.
DanielS Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I thought we were crap because of Rafa? Surely now he is gone we'll be brilliant and all thoughts of protests will be out the window?

For the early Europa game will it stand out? I went to the FC HAKA, TNS games etc and if my memory serves me right the attendace was around the 30k mark?
Benzo-13 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I've given up buying anything to do with Liverpool FC until they go.

I went to the FC HAKA, TNS games etc and if my memory serves me right the attendace was around the 30k mark? The ambition here is to get the ground completely empty. If a few thousand decide to go so be it but the aim is to get zero attendance. Shoot for the moon and all that... Once people see it working I think it makes boycotts for following games even easier as people's fear on this seems to be if they personally do it and it doesn't catch on then their action hasn't been worth it. There's a leap of faith to take here. Once it looks like there's an appetitie it needs to be properly coordinated and publicised.

Purslow's hardly going to come out and say, the boycott didn't work, the reason noone came is because it's a sh*t competition and our prices are too high. Edited June 6, 2010 by Gomez
davewigan Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 tns was sold out Just checked liverwebb anf FC Haka was 40k+ just seems as if they were not near capiciy, prob as I didn't have to spend all day on the credit card line listening to an engaged tone!
Rocheteau Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I have genuine misgivings about boycotts but I wouldn't break one
Gunga Din Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) i think the pre season friendly should be boycotted and picketed. see how we get on from that. and rather than a match boycott, with a bit of organising, and a lot of backsides sat on roads, we could actually get a match abandoned because the teams cant get to the ground. A European game would probably have most impact Edited June 6, 2010 by Gunga Din
oakie bob Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 lie down in front of the coaches as they approach, me and wayne should be able to sort that
impware Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Fully support this idea and have been banging on about it for a week or two to anyone I know who's a match goer.
Lee W Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I've given up buying anything to do with Liverpool FC until they go. Ditto

That was a bit of a running battle though. There's nothing they could do if hundreds just sat down all around the shankly gates. It'd look boss too.
