Hunting for a painting

This is a pretty long shot but for ages I've been looking for the artist and title of a particularly painting which I saw in the National Gallery of Modern Art (which is in the big park area near Villa Borghese) in Rome around 2007.

 

This is going from memory it's a picture of a boat. Instead of a proper mast it has a large carved image of soldiers (it's slightly Greek mythology looking). There's a hill/mountain/cliff behind it and it's night time (I think).

 

I know we've a fair few artistic types around here so if any of that has rung a bell, I'd be extremely grateful for your help!
