Can someone lend me a hammer

Woke up this morning and my PC had the black screen of death. On reboot I got an error message telling me that my pci.sys file was missing or corrupt.

 

This has happened to my FiL (recently) and he lost all his files etc as we ended up completely reinstalling XP. Mine were backed up a few weeks back but obviously I'd rather not lose the lot

 

Been googling like mad since I came into work and think i need a hammer
